Well, being as his last acting credit is when he was 11 years old, it may just be that he went to school and became interested in something other than acting such as engineering, law, medicine, auto repair, pornography, or heroin.

Jean Shephard wrote it himself. Peter Billingsly still has it memorized! The commentary track with Bob Clark and Peter Billingsly has some great stories, Jamie! How different the movie would've been with Jack Nicholson as "the old man." I like Jack, but it would've been more like "A Christmas Shining."

    HA!!

I listened to the commentary, heard the creative swearing Peter still had memorized. Great stuff.

I liked the bit about Ralphie's brother being scared to death going down that slide in the department store. Look at his face, that ain't acting! No wonder he dropped out of show biz. :D

Bob Clark brings up his infamous "Porky's" a time or two. Clark says he was able to make "A Christmas Story" thanks to the commercial success of the infamous "Porky's". Imagine that.

And the way he said it (followed by the long pause,) seemed to me as if he was trying to make a not-so subtle point.

Based on my listen to the commentary, it seems very clear that Clark remains bitter about the reception accorded "Porky's". 20+ years later and he still sounds cheesed off at all the negative reviews! (I agree with those reviews, BTW - it really is a tasteless and crummy flick...)

    Exactly, Colin.

  13. That something else you forgot Jamie was the 1984 Ken Russell film Crimes Of Passion with Kathleen Turner and Bruce Davison. No wonder young Ian left the businness after that, and an episode of Different Strokes.

Porky's is one of my guilty pleasures, it is tasteless to be sure, and raunchy to boot, but the scene in the principal's office with Miss Baubreaker (sp?) and the two coaches makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.

Back to the thread: I can't wait to get my hands on the new edition of A Christmas Story, it is one of my favorite films.

My family threw me a little birthday party last weekend, and both my wife and her brother bought me the new Christmas Story DVD in a special gift pack with a Ralphie bobblehead doll (the same one Jamie mentioned). I'm getting way too predictable. :)

    Regards,
