Me too but, he has at least strummed the guitar to the song WAY.

Perhaps it's time for a Roger Daltrey solo tour(s) thread?

Why is he on tour doing Tommy when he has a new album out?

«Daltrey does Tommy» sells more tickets than «Daltrey does his new solo album»

If he played his new album instead of "Tommy", the audience would be chattering and texting 100% of the time, instead of the 90% they chattered and texted during "Tommy" (excepting "Pinball Wizard" and "See Me, Feel Me/Listening To You"). Okay, maybe it wasn't THAT bad and I'm just a crotchety old concertgoer who actually listens and pays attention. :) Maybe the people who actually know the "Tommy" album were sitting way down front, or are in the old folks homes.

Anybody have the vinyl and how it stacks up against the cd, soundwise? I realize it will be thicker ;) than the cd : and heavier ;. Listened to the cd in the car (guilty) and it seemed a bit on the loud and juiced side at the point of attack or maybe that was just the nerves in a few of my teeth or an ache in my brain!

    Terrific album.

Seems like it would be a good one for playing vinyl with many older songs on it, etc.

If the vinyl was reasonably priced I would get it. But $35 is just too much

Yeah, but it’s not like he has to perform either the entirety of his new album or the entirety of Tommy. He could put together a general Roger Daltrey show that included a mix of his own songs and Who classics. I would think most people would assume he was going to do a fair number of Who songs.

I think I've seen it around $25 online so maybe will grab one eventually.

The cover of 'You Haven't Done Nothing' sounds like it could be on Jeff Beck's Loud Hailer album.

Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind and Certified Rose make a seamless transition with one another as if they belong together as a pair of songs.

An upbeat tune in place of 'The Love You Save' is the only quibble fwiw that I have with the pacing of the sequence of the album and I quite like 'The Love You Save' as it is.

Fwiw my last thoughts on the album are I love it and think it's a really, really good album, deserves more praise imo but my own is good enough for me. Like the album as much or even better than Going Back Home and McVicar which are my 2 favorite Daltrey 'solo' albums.

With Roger singing so well and sounding this good in the studio, wish he and Pete would record some of the Pete demos from the Scoop series and some other Pete songs as well.

It's an excellent album, way better than I was expected, and I liked Going Back Home quite a bit.

I'd give a Daltrey / Townshend album produced by Dave Eringa a listen.

After checking Amoeba Berkeley (and Rasputins a block away) more than once and not seeing it, was pleased to find a copy of Daltrey's newest on vinyl at Amoeba Hollywood on Wednesday while I was down that way to see the McGuinn/Hillman "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" show.

Got home to listen to it today, VERY good!

Just caught him on a replay of a few months old Graham Norton show, doing the title track, live. Now, I like The Who. Roger has (had?) one of rock's most unique and enduring voices. But GOD, he was awful on this show. He's struggling to hit and maintain ANY notes.

I compare him (rightly or wrongly) to Jagger and Springsteen live, and regretfully, he seems to have lost it. I HOPE the album is kind to his vocals. I have not got it or heard it yet, somewhat put off by this live outing.

Boy must his label be peeved with Rog. Saw him the other night, after being totally blown away by his Stockton show back in Spring, in terms of quality of set list, his voice, the band's skill and seriousness of thought in arranging these tunes.

This one was a crummier venue, casino in Indio in what's essentially a trade show hall they roll a stage into vs. restored downtown movie theater in Stockton, and the set list was sadly less right up my alley (two BY NUMBERS tunes exquisitely done in Stockton, zero in Indio) but Roger's voice never faltered (more than I can say for some Who shows in past decade) and the set list was still varied and the arrangements and playing inspired and beautiful.....

But! Although in Stockton, before the album was even out, he played "Always Heading Home" from it and talked it up, at this show he neither played anything from it, nor even told this crowd of 2500 or so serious fans that it even existed!

Still, if Rog keeps doing this, Who fans MUST go. It's an amazing experience. About equal numbers of Who rarities vs. Who warhorses, and a nice smattering of actual Rog solo songs (this time, After the Fire, Giving it All Away, and Without Your Love....in Stockton add Days of Light and ALways Heading Home....)

This really is a fine record. I saw the tour stop for "Tommy" here in Detroit. I also wish he had played more from the new album. But the show was fantastic. This was my second time seeing Rog solo. Is it me or does his seem to sing better with his solo band? I've seen the Who tours of late and his voice always seems to be burned out....

My feeling is it's less to do with the band and more to do with the length of the tours/amount of shows in shorter periods of time. If The Who tours again, even though it would probably lessen my chances to be able to catch a show, I think it would be wise to do shorter legs and spread them out a bit more. I've been to and heard clips online of recent Who shows where Roger sounds great, and I've heard some where he's struggling a bit. Seems to me like he's a singer who these days needs the right balance of doing enough shows that his voice stays in shape but not doing so many that he gets worn out.

What I would really like to see them do is perform at more smaller venues like the Fox Theater. The acoustics are better in these type of venues and would be a more intimate type setting/performance. And do a set list aimed at the harder core fan. Ok. so I am dreaming...

SO... I never realized this album was released... the last I read...Roger said releasing albums was a waste since no one buys them.

This album is really good. Bluesy...big horns and good guitar work. Roger sounds good and connects on emotional level with this material. Cool to see that Pete play on 7 of the tracks. A pleasant surprise.

great album. no bonafide "who" tracks. I would say that the Album does not have a single track that sounds like The Who. Daltry sounds good, and you can tell Pete plays on the tracks.... but there is nothing to add to a Who "mix" tape.

Just some rhetoric to excuse The Who from releasing another album of new material. If Pete wanted to release a new album and had material ready to go, Roger would be on board.
