Funnily enough I'd have been only lukewarm on this release had it not been for his Taylor Swift covers, which I actually found to be something of a return to form. He does go on about the 1980s but in the past this has been somewhat misleading so it will be interesting to hear what he comes up with.

i'm super excited for this but i find it odd that there isn't an official listing for this record on amazon or anywhere else for that matter... it wouldn't surprise me if he's stuck in the queue at a pressing plant. My guess is that the record will get announced in the next month or so with a release date closer to January.... but i could be totally wrong, this is the undeniably unpredictable ryan adams we're talking about here...

Ryan Adams is like T.S. Eliot without Ezra Pound... incredible songwriter but goddamn he needs a good editor. :lol

Granted he hasn't been as prolific recently, but he really needs someone to sort out the wheat from the chaff. And I am a big fan.

I'm wondering why we don't have a release date. Or any more recent announcement about the new Adams album.

    Starting to get nervous... :waiting:

Sounds great. I liked ELO and BTO back in the day. Yes I'll admit to BTO lol. Those riffs are mind blowing.

I discovered one that I missed. Love Is Hell.

My 30yo son got me into Ryan Adams years ago.

If you missed Love Is Hell then you have missed Ryan Adams altogether.

New single is on Spotify. Sounds to me very much like the last ST album which I found generic and boring. I was a huge Ryan fan right up to Ashes and Fire but sadly today he sounds to me like a busted flush.

I like the single I just wish the guitar solo was a little better. It felt like weak sauce

Sounds like a demo to me. Lazy guitar solo

From the songs he's been playing live this week it could end up being his best album since 2005.

Outbound Train is the most Whiskeytown he's sounded since Whiskeytown.

i've been listening to a leaked copy of this album all week - i was pleasantly surprised at how much i'm liking this album! It feels like a continuation of his previous album with bits of Demolition sprinkled throughout certain parts of a few songs. I'm loving it :)

PS - before you cast stones at me for listening to a leaked copy please know that i don't pirate music and i've already pre-ordered the LP for this album. I just couldnt help myself when someone told me it leaked :sigh:

Prisoner is growing on me big time. The lyrics are worth chewing on and there is a ton going on musically. Maaaaaaaajor Springsteen vibes on this one. "Shiver and Shake" is "I'm On Fire" redux. Lots of big, chimey guitars, forlorn harmonica blasts, with a few Jerry-esque guitar tones to boot. "Doomsday" is probably my favorite so far. This album will be on repeat all winter, I'm sure of it!

Now let's get some tour dates!
