I love this record label but this round of releases might not be for me.

Nothing there for me, but I’m glad Dutton Vocalion are still putting out great quality, reasonably priced SACDs.

Shame the Charlie Rich title isn’t Behind Closed Doors..

Nice to see a Ronnie Milsap SACD. I will take that one for sure.

Looking good as the SACD format celebrate its 20th anniversary in a few months.

It's SO strange to see Ray Conniff SACDs. My mom's record collection in the 70s was 50% Ray Conniff, and they were played TO DEATH.

Audiophile versions of those records would sound strange to these ears!

It's very interesting to see that Vocalion is re-releasing 1970s albums from artists like Ray Conniff and Percy Faith on an audiophile level. Now they could pick up the popular albums of the 50s and 60s to launch in multi-channel format.

    You have to be joking!

The Ray Conniff SACDs are remarkably good.

    Impeccable arrangements
    Impeccable performances
    Impeccable recordings
Superb immersive mixes making full use of all four loudspeakers (quadraphonic, so no centre and no sub)

    They are demonstration material.

I don't think I'd ever heard his music before the advent of the Dutton Vocalion SACDs. I was expecting it to be something like Mantovani or Manuel & The Music Of The Mountains. Reality surprised me, very pleasantly indeed.

Dutton Vocalion has expanded my horizons more than any other label.

That would be wonderful. If only it could happen I would buy them.

I don't doubt the quality--it's just that I can't reconcile my mom's scratchy LPs on a junky turntable in the 70s with audiophile quality! :)

These guys do excellent work, producing fine sounding SACD's/CD's, however, I find very little to get excited about in their title selection (I realise this is probably down to the cost of licencing)!

I hoped that there would be another Weather Report title in this batch. Maybe next time.

Imagine you see those wonders beautifully recorded by Columbia and RCA between 1957 and 1968 in multi-channel? It was going to be the maximum, probably.

More Mancini (finally, one I may even be interested in), and a Tomita this time around (and one I didn't score already from Japan, niiiice-!)(oh GOD, those are great...).

Happy holidays from your "sister city" of Lancaster PA, oxenholme!

  21. Any recommendations for the Doc Severinsen - Rhapsody For Now & Doc? It’s been on my radar as I love horns/brass but I’ve been on the fence with this one.

according to an email response to a QQ forum member from the DV label on the subject (I can't lay my hands on the quote now, sorry) more Guess Who SACDs have not been ruled out.

personally i'd like them to do "Rockin'", great album, decent mix and one of several of their Quads that was Q8 only with no CD-4 vinyl option.

    Sums it up.

Nothing here that interests me except the Tomita.

I'm curious who they are trying to market to.
