The Walking Dead will hit AMC on October 31, Halloween, as part of the channel’s annual FearFest. The pilot runs 90 minutes.

The show is Frank Darabont’s (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) small screen adaptation of the comic series by Robert Kirkman. The AMC Television series stars Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), Jon Bernthal (The Pacific), Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), Laurie Holden (The Mist), and Emma Bell (Law & Order) and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home after a zombie apocalypse.

I'll be watching the first episode at the very least. Trailer doesn't look too bad. Looks like it's trying to stay true to the comic.

I'm a fan of the original comic book series and it's always been excellent.

I've been reading this series for a few years. I'm really looking forward to the show, but I'm worried the open ended nature of it (it isn't mean to come to any conclusion) will frustrate people with short attention spans who want progress every week and then closure. The writer says that he came up with the series because he specifically wanted an on going adventure that never ended. So while there are plot arc's, there isn't any one BIG plot arc other than people surviving in a zombie infested world.

Okay, just watched the preview. Looks good. And I'm glad to see Lennie James in it. He was outstanding in Jericho. And Michael Rooker is always great in things like this.

Don't forget, The Walking Dead begins this Sunday night! I'm really looking forward to it.

  20. Does AMC have the same censorship as your broadcast networks? I recall swear words being bleeped when I watched an episode of Breaking Bad. In other words, are we going to get blood and gore and naughty bits or do I have to wait for the DVD set?

I don't know. They definitely edit movies for content. I looked in on a few of the Friday The 13th movies they have been running lately, and they were cutting scenes out of those. With an original series, its hard to tell. We don't know what is missing.

This was made specifically for AMC so I doubt anything is edited. I am really looking forward to it. I just hope the trick or treaters are done by the time it comes on here.

I thought it was fantastic. I was kind of sleepy towards the end (long day) but I'll watch it again on the DVR. Check it out, I suspect they'll replay it a few times this week.

Affirmative. Some pretty graphic scenes; gun shots to the head.
But I guess they're just zombies, so that's harmless, right? ;)
