Previous issues in that Japanese series were in jewel cases. That's all I know so far.

@Bob F Was it you who posted the webpage about the initial project from 1999(?) when it was originally a 2 disc set?

It had a priliminary track list.

If so, can you post the webpage again?

I cant wait to compare what made it onto the set from then til now!

Wow. I just learned last week about the existence of the V-Disc set from (15?) years ago, and now this.

    Everything's coming up Frank!

It's long gone, but thanks to the Wayback Machine, here 'tis:

The announcement for this new Box Set brings to mind one question, for me, anyway.
How many titles are going to be from previously released Columbia/legacy cd's and how much will be new to cd.
On previous cd's such as FS sings R&H, sings Cole Porter, sing Gershwin, sings Christmas, A Voice In Time, had a great deal of radio material.
All of it was outstanding, I hope there will be more outstanding choice's, particularly duet's.
Everyone talk's about the Too Be Perfectly Frank material, but, there was some outstanding work done on the "Meet Frank Sinatra " radio series
some of the guest stars on that series are not to be believed Art Tatum, Nat Cole, Billy Eckstine, Les Paul, Jule Styne etc; That is my favorite Sinatra Radio Program.
All shows were transcribed but they are hard to come by. I hope there will be a few titles from that series.

The Perfectly Frank radio show material is excellent and it would be nice to hear it in good quality sound.

I'd take a box set of complete Perfectly Frank performances. His finest small group recordings ever!

    Who knows?

Maybe if this set sells well enough, we could get more radio performances in the future.

This is wonderful news, exactly what many of us were hoping for to celebrate the centenary.

The radio years are my personal favorite - it will be great for there to be an official overview of this side of Sinatra.

Amazing news and will definitely buy this boxset. This is the centennial worthy and more aimed at the more than casual fan of FS.

I think it is a classy package. However, the title falls jivy on my ears. Should it not be A Voice on THE Air??????

One thing which stands out to me which this set will accomplish is how (part of) it provides recordings during Frank's late '42-44 period where he could not record in the studio (aside from the a capella material) due to the Musicians Union strike. Besides the material being wonderful on its own, it helps flesh out this period in Frank's history beyond the V-Discs.

Martin, how deep are these broadcast vaults (several boots out there from multiple radio shows)?

The Treasury Song Parade recordings of late 42 early 43 also fall in the gap between leaving Dorsey and RCA Victor and joining Columbia.

"On Air" refers to broadcasting, be it radio or television as you most probably know.

I think it's a good title, and I imagine we will all be "walking on air" when we hear these tracks.

In all seriousness, Frank did a LOT of radio shows back in that era. Thankfully what's to be on A VOICE ON AIR - plus lots more - has survived.

I think it's meant to match the previous box set title:
"A Voice in Time 1939-1952" vs.
    "A Voice on Air 1935-1955"
