I've always wondered about "Sylvester" on Ain't But The One Way. Was it just some off the cuff riffing by our man Sly, or was it more planned out. Did Sly record it around 1980 and then vanish only to have the album finished by other producers (as I've read).

I think there are currently two Sly documentaries making rounds. I also came across this 38 part series on Youtube recently.

Also, what about the songs Sly recorded with Jesse Johnson in the late 80s? It seems Jesse still has full possession.

Jesse has posted a few unreleased Prince/ Time- related tracks over the year, hopefully he might do the same with Sly!

There's still more Sly treasures buried out there. C'mon Jesse!

Given how Prolific Sly was for the decade of his prime and taking into consideration the plethora of bonus tracks on reissues and that box set, I think we can bet that there is a pretty substantial vault.

Michael Jackson owned a lot of it for about 20 years - including heaps of concert footage.

Tell me about it. The great Higher! box unreleased tracks were mouth watering. As much as I've acquired over the years I still want more.

I made a sweet CD-R using the unique tracks from that and the original GH.

If you don't have it already, check out the Back on the Right Track album rough/early/alternate mixes release called Remember Who You Are. Obviously it's not essential Sly, but well worth checking out. The early vocals he puts down on "It Takes All Kinds" are hilarious.

The "Wonderful World Of Color" instrumental from that set was amazing. A shame they never laid down any vocals.

What's the story behind this track? It was for sale on a website (along with another newer song) back in 2011; did Sly actually authorize it?

Have not heard of Music on CD (what an imaginative name, huh?), but I have the Japan ESCA CD, which sounds great and is still available on amaxon.

Agreed. The Japan ESCA CD sounds incredible, so I probably won't be getting this. I also did my own needledrop of Heard Ya Missed Me, which sounds good.
