He could spend all the time in the studio, hitting notes he can't normally hit. Live, he'll probably take it down a half step. "You Better Wait" was never performed in its original key during the FLOSM tour of 1994/95.

Remember that he is a 69 year old man being judged against who he was 35 years ago. And on top of all that, he is/was the GOLD STANDARD for high tenor, soaring rock vocals. There is a reason he has been hesitant to return. He set the bar so astronomically high. I do not envy his position. How do you reach those expectations?

I'm thinking Spinal Tap. It's not a very good "T" but considering the guys' spelling, drawing, and math abilities, I can see why the T looks like it does.

Half a step down or even more is no big deal at his age. Hell, even Arnel has been half a step down for years. Very few guys of his cohort are in original key. Peter Cetera's still out there and packing them in. I mean who are we comparing him to? Jon Bon Jovi? David Coverdale? Lou Gramm?

I don't think anyone could reasonably expect Perry to sound like he did circa Escape. We've heard the maturing of his voice through the years. If he sounds like he did in Trial By Fire (which I think is not too optimistic given the recent albeit brief Toad footage) I'll be quite happy.

Glad to see that he has at least one new song written with the great Randy Goodrum!

For the record, Steve is set to appear on "CBS SUNDAY MORNING" on October 7th, two days after the new albums release. Too bad that it's going to be released on Concord, which will more than likely mean that it will brickwalled!

There's a lot of stuff going on. Including a young Steve Perry in his famous red coat.

Interesting....a partial re-write of The Beatles hit?? Or something new........

(Sorry, cant believe I am the one that brought up The Beatles  I apologise to everyone as this will now hijack the thread on Beatles speculation )

It doesn't sound like the old Beatles track and I know that it's been a long while since we've seen him, but Steve really doesn't look like himself anymore, LOL

There were rumours years ago that he was recording in a studio in Swansea so I'm glad to see him finish the project.

I reckon it'll be too soulful for me - I'm not keen on the later Journey albums he was on - but regardless, it's sure to be quality product.

The cover artwork looking rather amazing. Like the old days, lots to ponder as you spin the album.

I think this is the main reason we haven't heard from him in 20 years. I'll be surprised if he tours...he doesn't need the money, he's putting out music because he wants to. I'm keeping my expectations tempered...most of his solo stuff is a bit too mellow for me, but if there's one or two "You Better Wait"-esque rock tracks, i'll be happy.

That cover art looks great!! Based on the tracklist, it appears the album will be a reasonable length (~40 minutes) - not too long, not too short. Just long enough to sit back and and study the cover art while the LP spins on the turntable.

This is great to finally see a new SP record come to fruition.

I’m not expecting a 32 year old SP in his prime to show up and/or tour behind this either. He can do what he wants, and frankly, at this late a juncture in his life, getting new music will suffice just fine for me. I would love to see him perform live again though. And if he does, I won’t miss it!

Also, he did a very in-depth interview about 6 years ago in 2012. It’s hands down the best interview I’ve ever heard him do. He gave many details about his life and why he walked away from it all. Check it out on youtube. Look up Steve Perry interview. I believe the interview was done by Dan Mandis from Denver, CO.
