Nice work! U-turn has been busy lately. First they introduced a new gimballed tonearm with more length. Now they have some pretty wooden plinths and nicer carts. I am rooting for this company!!! Orbit Special Turntable ยป

that is pretty nice. I think an MDF plinth with wood veneer would be less resonate.

    What does that mean?

That means it's made in the USA instead of in some third world sweatshop.

    What does "USA made" mean???
It means it's made in Massachusetts, inside the United States of America. A rarity these days with quality items.

And also not warp or change shape due to humidity/dryness. Could be a problem as I saw one guy make a beautiful solid wood plinth for a VPI scout - which over time warped on him - very frustrating.

  9. It still has an exposed belt drive. Great for getting stuff caught in.

Huh? There are numerous turntables that operate identical to this.

Very pretty turntable. I remember the days when U-Turn was just a kickstarter project. I'm so glad they have turned out to be a successful company, bringing affordable and quality turntables to the masses.

Wait, is that actually a thing that happens? I've never gotten anything caught in the belt drive of my Orbit, and I live in a house with three cats! It does come with a dust cover, after all.

My only gripe with U-Turn is that the Basic doesn't include the cue lever, and that it costs $40(!) to add. It just snaps in place when you do add it, so why can't they add it by default and tack on the cue lever at cost? Seems really podunk to me.

I'm on board with platter upgrades, cartridge upgrades, etc. But a basic cue lever? Come on.

That's really my only gripe about what U-Turn is doing, so it's a pretty small one.

EDIT: Oh, and I really like the solid wood plynth additions to the lineup.

It's beautiful, I suspect it sounds great, and I love that it's mostly made with USA parts and assembled in Mass!

Even on tables I've owned where they're still functional (which discounts basically every Technics table ever), I've never used the cue lever in my life. I was fine with not paying extra for one.

Neat little table. I like the cue lever and wish they would do something about the cheesy rubbery tone arm clamp/rest thing.

If you can get caught in that you shoudn't be operating a turntable!
