Hopefully we will have options for vinyl, Blu Ray and hi-res for the 4CD tracklisting.

 

I can't wait! I hope it outdoes Playback!

 

Tom always said that Playback was the tip of the iceberg in terms of rarities, etc.

 

I guess Shepard Fairey is the go to illustrator artist right now (Harrison, Star, Petty)

 

Wish it were a bigger set but hey, we'll take it....can't wait!!

Tom Petty - An American Treasure: Deluxe Edition— A 4-CD set that features all 60 tracks, plus a 52-page booklet with rare and previously unseen photographs of Tom, his bandmates, family and friends. The booklet also features detailed track-by-track liner notes by noted journalist and Tom Petty aficionado Bud Scoppa, who drew upon his previous interviews with Tom and new conversations with Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and Ryan Ulyate, as well as Adria and Dana Petty.

All newly released recordings on An American Treasure have been mixed by Ryan Ulyate from pristine transfers of the original studio multitrack masters. All 60 recordings have been re-mastered for this collection by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.

The custom cover artwork for An American Treasure was created by prominent American artist Shepard Fairey from an image of Petty by renowned photographer Mark Seliger.

At 60 songs, that means there's only an average of 15 songs per disc...so I think it would be relatively easy for them to release a 6-8 disc vinyl version, as well.

 

Zing went the strings of my heart, can't wait for this and the title 'An American Treasure' is the most apt title for any musical release of this and any other year!

I hate when alternate version are called unreleased tracks

 

There’s a 6 record set for $160!!!!

 

I'm a bit bummed that there are so many previously-available tracks on this collection. Still, it looks more promising than Playback.

I will say that the fact that all of the Wildflowers outtakes are (for the most part) alternate versions leads me to suggest that they're definitely holding back for this release, though.

 

Except for the whiners, who will always and forever find something to complain about.

That drawing is cool but kind of spooky. Did Tom ever have a full beard when he was that young?

 

For the die-hard fans I think it looks like a great set. Tom is one of my favourites but not my absolute favourite (meaning I don’t need to hear lots of alternate takes) but will be able to download and put together a good compilation of 10 or so unreleased songs which I’m sure will be too notch. Here’s hoping Wildflowers All The Rest still happens!
