So are these going to be 33 1/3 or 45 rpm records? Has it been definitely stated yet one way or another?

My vote is for 45 rpm, for the greatest sonic experience that can be extracted from these recordings.

Speaking for myself I would prefer 33rpm. I do hear the improved sonics of 45 rpm in the usual audiophile ways, but I find my foot tapping a bit more with 33. Also with the inconsistency of today's vinyl, 33 gives one a better chance of not having to send discs back.

I would be shocked if these aren’t 45rpm but the advert doesn’t make it clear

We all win, then. The album already sounds amazing in its 2010 remaster incarnation and I'll be $100 richer since I won't buy it if it's exclusively available in the 45rpm flavor. :)

As part of an ABAL project, looking at the whole recording of this album I recently [today] wrote a 2000 plus word piece designed for my web page on the "taxi story".
It wont appear until the article is fully completed of course. But I will point interested parties in the direction of original quotes from Hendrix and Chandler for the taxi piece and Hendrix, Chandler and Kramer as to regard what was remixed the following day / night / early hours. Care should be taken when relying on third party input especially when presented as a fact!

    Thanks Slick.

In short it takes two generations from the record process. That in itself should improve the final product but shouldn't that make the pressing cheaper ? Ha ha, of course not!!

The flat profile is as debatable as to just how much difference it will make as clarity vinyl or even the differences found between regular speed and half speed. Oh, lets not forget one sided pressings!!!

Maybe we should have 200grm one sided cuts. Cut in flat profile on Clarity vinyl at half speed. that's a single album spread over four sides then!

AAA of course, maybe that would justify the cost per unit being quoted!

QA at its best would give us a product that we want but I guess i'll be buying these pressings, again!

Another story I read was that only the first mix was lost in the taxi and the band had to rerecord the song but not without struggling a ton, for some reason. However, I believe McDermott to be well regarded in Hendrix circles so his version is probably more accurate.

After 1990 would be kind of a waste, since most are digital.

I have the Classic mono as well, but have been wondering about the Newbury Comics exclusive colored vinyl versions of Axis and Electric Ladyland. They are both still available - are they any good?

They are the latest BG masterings and are really good.

The Newbury sounds identical to the standard black from legacy. Nice addition but not nessessary if you have either that black mono reissue or the 2000 classic issue.
ELL Newbury ( or even the Barnes and noble) are excellent and recommended

Of course all of the quotes assume they weren't coming up with a "dog ate my homework" excuse to buy more time or cover up a screw up of some other sort.

The taxi story - while not impossible to believe - certainly begs more than a few questions.

And those questions are presented along with a few more :)
Though I doubt there was any screw up at all!

Are these UHQR releases usually released as SACDs, too? I'd love to get Hendrix's 3 Experience albums mastered by AP on CD/SACD.
