I've been listening to bands such as white hills, wooden shjips, bardo pond and mugstar and like this sort of thing immensely.

Can people suggest bands like this that would appeal to fans of the above groups?

    Thanks.

Definitely check out some Ty Segall. Manipulator is my favorite, but his earlier stuff has more of a garage feel. I really like this album he did with White Fence.

Thee Oh Sees pop immediately to mind, seconding the Ty Segall recommendation. Let me think on some more...

Particularly Ty Segall's Fuzz project, to be more specific.

Thee Oh Sees have been at the forefront of the garage psych revival on the West Coast for a while now. Here's one of my favorites from them:

If you like "Wooden Shjips", try also "Moon Duo" (Ripley's side project) and of course... "Suicide".

Lot of good stuff out there now, The Lucid Dream released Compulsion Songs last year and another good one the year before, here's the "Bad Texan" opener from the latest ...

There's a lot of good stuff, but perhaps not a lot of great stuff. I strongly concur with Thee Oh Sees recommendation. Start with Mutilator Defeated at Last, then The Masters Bedroom, and by then if you're into it you can figure it out from there and if you're not you can move on with your life. (For more California, garage-y stuff, check out Wand also. Ganglion Reef is the proper starting point. You might also like Meatbodies, probably the more accessible album is Alice.)

Oneida is a great band, check out Secret Wars.

Some other good newer psych bands, some a little less like the California ones but all good, along with the best album to start with:

Goat World Music (don't let the album's name put you off, it's good psych--basically every song is like the peak of an early Santana jam)

Follakzoid II (if you alter your consciousness in some way, there is nothing better than this)

    Circle Taantamus (krauty, heavy)

Black Angels Passover (darker, influenced by Loop, probably, also VU and Spacemen 3)

Cave Neverendless (very krauty, if that's your thing)

*And always, always, Acid Mothers Temple. They have a vast discography, but check out La Novia and Om Riff From the Cosmic Inferno*

Can I just jump in to say that all of these recommendations are absolutely perfect and I wholeheartedly endorse each of them. I could have written this very post!

There's a lot of good stuff coming out on the UK-based Fuzz Club label - see Fuzz Club . The site serves as a really good resource as well. - kinglewi

I'll think on if I have anything to recommend, but you've already hit on three of my more (comparatively) obscure go-tos in Circle, CAVE and Follazoid.

I'd toss in a recommendation for Gnod's Chaudelande or Infinity Machines. Or possibly Bitchin Bajas' Bitchitronics for something with a little more of krautrock

Try and resurect this thread as it was going well...

Been mentioned already above and a few other kraut / psych threads but a huge recommendation on Chilean band Follakzoid.

Also if you're into your accoustic drone (genre?) i picked up an LP last year by a band called Western Skies Motel. Had never heard much like it before but ive been playing it all the time. Its a guy from denmark and you can listen on bandcamp but i think its amazing.

    Great video too.

I missed this post somehow until now. Yes, I dig Gnod and Bitchin Bajas (who are people from Cave). For the more psychedelic side of Gnod, In Gnod We Trust is nice.
