I'm definitely getting that magnolia electric co at some point but I already have it on black vinyl. Gives me something to grab the next sale.

I was hoping the Interpol release would have been ""Our Love to Admire" which is a very tough find on vinyl.

Ah dammit I bought it anyway. Online nerds say there's only about 100 left and it'll drive me crazy if this sells out. Expensive week.

....aaaaaaaand Interpol all gone online. Not bad in 36 hours.

What's been the fastest sell outs? I saw a modest mouse one a few months ago gone in a few hours. Sounds like spoon's ga ga ga went fast too.

  6. The Velvet Underground album was gone within 24 hours. Was sold out by the time I saw the Newbury e-mail the day it was announced.

From what I've seen, The Strokes releases have sold out very fast.

I've noticed that they don't state how many copies the releases are limited to anymore.

I know that the "Coke bottle green" Pearl Jam "Ten" copy sold out in what seemed like minutes.

I like colored vinyl. Simple as that. and newbury have a lot of color vinyl for records I already love from indie to jazz to soul.

I read somewhere that someone asked newbury customer service why they don't list it anymore and was told that some CA law prevented them from posting it, but if you ask via email or twitter, they'll tell you.

I got the Bing Crosby Christmas red and white LP and it's going to be a cherished gem of my music collection for my whole life. Every year it will be spun with a few drinks.

I only got into the newbury stuff last year so I missed both. The VU though, assuming it's the Nico album, man I hate the half and half versions like that one, half black half yellow. Those look like seinfelds black and white cookie. I prefer solids, splatter or swirl.

well.. in the rare case of the GBV UTBUTS I picked up but it is still sealed.. i also have their Bee Thousand... but ordinarily I just can't see spending $30 for a copy of a record I already have simply because it is on colored vinyl.. much less some of these reissues of old records.. can you imagine spinning VU and Nico colored vinyl reissue when you have the original mono? Why? just to see the colors? The sound quality relative to the originals (and not because its colored vinyl) will be atrocious. but different strokes for different folks! its cool with me if people like to buy those

I almost ordered the Interpol before it sold out but went for the older vinyl issue from Amazon Prime at $13.06. Once I saw that price, it was easy to switch.

There was a mono VU on black and colored many years ago, digital of course. But no, your original did not blow the reissue out of the water. And not many others have originals. A fairly rough recording to be kind.

Nick Cave's Push The Sky Away on smoky vinyl sold out within a couple hours too, but that one was pretty limited. 3 or 5 hundred I think. I do have one. I am surprised at how fast the Interpol went seeing it was up just one day after the online sale.

Me too. I bought a clear copy of honey bear from VMP on eBay cheap, but as much as I play it, a nice looking variant could twist my arm and buy it again.

I've got about 20+ of the jazz titles, as well as Television, Spoon, Broken Bells, Hendrix, Wild Nothing, and a few others I can't remember at the moment. Most are of very good quality all around, but some of the jazz titles (the one's pressed at United) are a noisy, crackly mess, unfortunately.

The Father John Misty they've been teasing about is a pink variant of Honeybear. At 29.99 it's not too bad compared to some of their other recent 2LPs so I'll probably cave any minute now...
