Saw this news item today. Looks interesting. Do you think it will bring down the costs of TVs or the exact opposite?

HP says it can double TV resolution

Hewlett-Packard said it has developed a technology that will double the resolution of TV sets and digital projectors without additional cost.

Mark van Orger, business manager in HP's digital projector division, said that the so-called "wobulation'' technology was created by an HP printing researcher who saw how it could be used in projection displays.

The technology can be used in conjunction with "digital light processing'' chips from Texas Instruments to double the resolution of a display picture. Van Orger said the technology will be used in displays or projectors that HP will introduce in 2005.
