Many months ago, I saw a tweet from AP saying he'd just heard a newly remixed track. I don't recall which one, now, but I recognized it at the time as a Black Sea B-side. But he deleted the tweet shortly afterwards, I'm guessing because he'd inadvertently spilled the (can of human) beans. When people were speculating which album would be next, I didn't mention the tweet because I supposed he didn't want the news out there yet. (Or maybe some roadblock had come up.) But I'm happy to see it confirmed. Black Sea isn't among my all-time favorite XTC albums, but it has some great tracks and B-sides so I'll be glad to add it to the collection.
Is a new stereo remix generally part of these releases or are they 5.1 only? Edit: just read the Twitter link, apparently stereo too!
A classic disc, easily a top 20 for me. I don't give a hoot about the 5.1 mix, tho, does that make me a bad person?
Never thought I'd see/live to hear "Nonsuch", "Skylarking", "Oranges & Lemons", and "Black Sea" remixed/remastered proper. Go-go Steven Wilson!! \../ Fingers crossed for "The Big Express" next. I generally like all XTC albums, but those five are my favorites; honorable mention to "English Settlement", but I already feel spoiled by the John Dent remaster from last year.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no language in my lungs, to tell the world just how I feel.....!!!!!
The quality and value for money of these reissues is just staggering, and completely unmatched by any other reissues or box sets I'm aware of.
This is excellent news! I've really enjoyed the XTC reissues series so far. It is really good to see a band so interested and involved with the presentation of their musical legacy.
I was hoping for 'Big Express' myself (or, if I really want to live in a fantasy world, 'Take Away/The Lure Of Salvage') but this will make for a nice substitute. I just hope they package it with a nice green paper bag.
One of their best! I hope it has a bunch of contemporaneous recordings and they decide not to stiff the DVD version and exclude the bonus tracks (like on their other releases). I would gladly sacrifice hi-res content for more songs, particularly when I can't hear any significant (or discernible) difference in hi-res.
Yes, I believe you are right. I was referring to Drums and Wires and Nonsuch. I never purchased the Skylarking package and I got Oranges and Lemons used from a forum member. I can play BD, but I cant rip the content with my current set-up.
