NIN have just dropped Ghosts V and VI as official downloads on their website. No word on if they’re getting physical release or not

Disappointingly they are MP3 only which is very unusual for NIN

I'm sure this is just to get it out there. Fully expect there to be better version(s) available at some point.

    Indeed.
A bit of a downer after the initial joy of learning about the release ! :)

  6. This is awesome!

It sounds like they wanted to get something to us fast. I'm sure hi-res and probably physical copies will be announced in the coming weeks (or months.. or years given how their definitive edition releases have been going!)

I'm excited to give these albums a "spin" tonight!

My "payment" has been "authorizing" for over fifteen minutes now.

Disappointingly this FREE release is in a LOSSY format. For FREE I think everyone on this forum expects and deserves better, for our hard-earned NOTHING.

I'll definitely check these out, but Ghosts I-IV left me a bit cold, and I have hard time getting through all of Trent's ambient stuff and soundtracks. Very cool of him to do this though--consider the lossy format a free taster for the high bitrate version to come later.

    Verrrry sloooooooow to download.

At this rate the virus will have wiped us all out before my download has completed.....

....I don't want to spend my last moments on earth looking at a buffered screen :D

Could've probably used something a bit cheerier about now, but I'm pleased about this. I now have a soundtrack to this gloomy dystopia in which we currently live...plus, I spectacularly failed to take advantage of In Rainbows and The Slip when they came out. So, for once, I'm on the ball!

    Are these all instrumental tracks?

Yeah, just like the other Ghosts release. One of the instrumentals on the first lot was used in the inexplicably massive pop hit Old Town Road...so I think Trent and Atticus can afford to give these ones away for zilch...

I clicked download but it's just sitting on the spinning pizza wheel page that says "Authorizing Payment".

How long has it taken people to get past this part?

I used UK NIN site - and I was pretty quick off the mark - so it went straight through.

Listening to it now, plenty of good tracks. It's not as dynamic as Ghosts I-IV and is more in line with their soundtrack work (which is a good thing in my book)

It's free. $0 into the cart. This shouldn't be a downer.

I'm sure there will be lossless available at some point (and probably lossless streaming from the services that offer it). Definitely nothing to complain about given the current asking price. Gonna dig in this afternoon.

You just got two free Nine Inch Nails albums you didn't even know existed today at a grand cost of $0.00, and now you're moaning they aren't hi-res FLAC's?

I genuinely have no words to express my opinion. At least none that won't get me thrown off this site.

It's not the first time NIN is giving away a free album. "The Slip" in 2008 was a free album, and it was lossless and hires :)
    Hence the remarks ;)
