Fascinating. I found a first pressing CD a couple years ago but didn't pick it up. Didn't even pay attention to the track list. Now I wish I bought it.
So I guess its safe to assume the budget release floating around is a different mastering, then? The current release sounds awfully loud to my ears.

Huh? I was listening to it today. It mentions Christmas, Jesus, and kids opening up presents. On Christmas.

There's a difference between a song mentioning Christmas and being about Christmas.

One might be hard pressed to call it a song per se, but there is 'I'm walking backwards for Christmas' by The Goons....

You stole my thunder ... it's not a great line of lyrics IMHO and the song has one melody repeated over and over, but I love the orchestration more than just about any other song I could name!

  20. That's a wonderful pick! That song - the original one - has that slightly wild, "pagan" sound to it, yet is really christian in spirit (lyrics).

Beautiful song, beautiful arrangement, beautiful lyrics...

The last song on Scott Walker's "Bish Bosch", "The Day The "Conducator" Died", ends with a few notes from "Jingle Bells" played on a xylophone. It's not a Christmas song/album.
