I enjoy their Monk cover on the tribute record. I was wondering if any of their albums has a more jazzy feel than the others. Thanks
The jazziest NRBQ is on 2 of Terry Adams' solo albums. I feel some of there jazziest stuff was on their first album. It has not been released on CD but you may find vinyl someplace.
Good question from The Panda! And good answer from JazzMonkie, except for the fact that "Terrible" was issued on CD--I have a copy, of course. See here: https://www.amazon.com/Terrible-TERRY-ADAMS-TERRIBLE/dp/B0000030IT And "Talk Thelonious" is essential and readily available! And check them out live, Panda!
I will echo the sentiment in favor of "Talk Thelonious" - it's really brilliant! Don't hesitate to check it out!
I was referring to the first Q album not being on CD. I cobbled together a version for myself on CD. It's all good!
I have an unrelated NRBQ question: Does anyone know the songwriter of Your So Beautiful which appears on Diggin Uncle Q ? Thanks
NRBQ itself did very few flat-out jazz tracks, though they could go that way onstage. This from Kick Me Hard is probably the main one:
Look up "Dogface" by Gary Windo. They backed him for most of the album. A shame it's not on CD. Or is it?!
