This isn't wrong, at least as far as the last two Oasis records. And "What A Life" is certainly a cousin to "Falling Down," but I found "Death Of You And Me" more musically interesting and developed than anything he did in the last 5 years of Oasis, even if it did use that "Importance Of Being Idle" feel again. I wish the HFB stuff rocked a little more, but I find the overall quality of songs to be a significant step up from the end of Oasis.

Mmmm, barely. Even then, that isn't saying much, as The Strokes ripped off many a riff, themselves.

Noel should have saved this for his debut solo album:

  4. I find Dig Out Your Soul a plodding album with mostly uninspired singles. Every other Oasis album I immediately connected with the songs; it took hearing live versions to develop some appreciation for this batch of songs.

It's the one Oasis album I rarely pull out to play these days. My favorite songs from this period are the stuff that didn't make the album. As many have said, it's not hard believing that Noel knew this was it for Oasis and saving his best material for his upcoming solo career.

Yeah Noel definitely knew Oasis was coming to an end. I think most of the songs on his debut album had been written by now, and he was either saving them up for a solo album or planning to trickle them out slowly in Oasis.

I’m Outta Time is a classic for me and the best song Liam has wrote, might be the best song he ever writes.

  7. Anyone put together a best-of Liam compilation with his strongest Oasis, Beady Eye and solo tunes?

I actually really like Dig Out Your Soul. It's not perfect, but it has a lot of really great songs on the album, and only a few cuts toward the album aren't great. in particular I love the one two punch of Bag it up and the turning, I feel like their best since morning glory. I think this was a really solid album to go out on.

I forgot all about Bag It Up. Maybe it should have been a single instead of Falling Down? (Except Noel probably wanted to sing at least one single per album by this stage)

I was very excited about the first Beady Eye album, as the first post Oasis Oasis record.

The end result was very disappointing. It's rare that I get rid of a record I own because I just plain don't like it, but I am afraid that was what happened here. Predictably retro and dull, but with a ghastly digital sheen to the production.

I still can't believe that Liam put out a song called Beatles and Stones.

I know that Noel has done way more than his share of riff pinching, but I'm not hearing this one at all.
