I like it but it's a bit too rocky and fast for me. I prefer the album version.

Most people really like their treatment of Walrus, and I cant really argue (much) with them, but the realy highlight B side for me was the superb Fade Away. Liam really puts his John Lydon influence on full display. The playing is punky and the lyrics (for early Noel) are quite good.

My only problem with it is that the melody is too similar to "Freedom" by Wham (normally I don't mind Noel borrowing from other artists but "Shakermaker" and "Fade Away" are the two songs where I do mind).

Just listened to both songs in quick succession. I'm definitely gonna have to forgive Noel for this one. The first two lines of each verse, I'll admit, are identical, but the path of the songs after those two lines are so disparate and the mood so raucous (in Fade), it's almost impossible for me to hear it and think, "Wham!" YMMV.

One of my favourite Oasis tunes from that album period.

    Whatever and Live Forever acoustic.

This was the performance that got me into Oasis and properly into music in general. Remember watching it on MTV in 1994 when I was 13. Seems like yesterday.... how young is Davina McCall!

Have to say, being a teenager and following this band from 94-98 was an amazing time. The albums, the singles, the b sides, the gigs, the tv appearances. They were massive and so was guitar music. If you weren’t around then and missed it: What a time to be alive

Wasn't this the time when Liam refused to perform citing a sore throat, then proceded to nurse his sudden malady with whiskeys and cigarettes from the balcony while heckling his own band?

id hazard a guess from all the influences Noel has openly cited, George Michael/Wham would not be one of them

I don't know about Noel but Liam's a fan, appearing in the new George Michael documentary and praising "Listen without Prejudice". It's not impossible. I actually think "Praying for Time" sounds like a "Be Here Now"-era ballad a little.

I expect he heard the song once and just decided to borrow from it. He wouldn't necessarily have had to be a fan.

Respectfully disagree regarding Up In The Sky and Shakermaker.

I actually find no weak spots on this album

It is one of my favorite albums of all time, and Oasis is in my top-ten.

The only mistake with this album, is starting the practice of burning great tracks on the b-sides. I get the idea behind it, but history looks at albums and A-sides. These great tracks make another complete album. In an alternate history, they would have used these to make the albums after Morning Glory just as strong. If they had, I think the band's catalog would be viewed differently (Instead of "two great albums"). Noel has admitted as much.

I would kill for an audiophile mastering of the first three albums and b-sides.

I love the Warchild version of Fade Away. A rare occasion where Liam sings backing vocals. Oddly, it also included Johnny Depp on guitar and Kate Moss on backing vocals.

I really want these MTV performances on CD. They are fantastic versions, and very different. Basically, I would like a dedicated Oasis Unplugged release.

cool, thanks. Columbia is my 2nd or 3rd favorite song on the album and I am surprised it doesn't get more love.

Yeah, this is nice. Interesting laid back take on this tune. Love Liam's voice- even as backing vocals, he sounds great.

Noel Gallagher still performs 'Fade Away' in the style of the Warchild version in his solo concerts.
    Check out this from 2015.
