The Countdowns - Strange Are the Shadows

Band from Iowa who released only one single on the Minneapolis/Minnesota Bear label in 1965. "Strange Are the Shadows" is the flipside of "You Know I Do".
They later evolved into "Uncle and The Anteaters" who released another three singles between 1966 and 1968.

From Indiana, The Endd (not to be confused with UK band The End, whose Bill Wyman-produced Introspection is well known here) with ‘Come on in to My World.’
Not a lot is known about them, but a few pieces of the puzzle were put together in the comments section of a blog here.

Song is separated into three distinct parts, each compelling in its own way, but gets decidedly heavier as it progresses (a good thing!).

The Rokes - When the Wind Arises

British band that was huge in Italy, selling several million singles there during the second half of the sixties.

"When the Wind Arises" was the English version of Lucio Battisti's "Il Vento".
Released in the UK on RCA Victor in 1968.
    Wonderful psychedelic track!

did a search of this incredible thread and there is no "Tell Me Now" by High Society. It was released in Jan of '70 but I'm hoping we'll let it slide ;)

The other day I fired up my old 1949 Seeburg M100A jukebox, which plays 78's. I have it pretty full of '50's and '60's RHINO repressed 78's and my wife played this one, which I always forget about.

Carole King - "It Might As Well Rain Until September" (A song which Carole and Gerry Goffin actually wrote for Bobby Vee but he foolishly turned it down, which is still a head-scratcher, as it screams such a huge hit for Bobby!)

I was watching NCIS Los Angeles Season 9 episode 14 "Goodbye, Vietnam", of all things, when a track played in the background to which the only reaction had to be "what the heck is that?"

I found it, and it comes from an album called "Saigon: Rock & Soul" and although in the various YouTube places there is some discussion as to whether they have got the artist it is labeled as Thành Mái singing "Tóc Mai Sợi Vắn Sợi Dài" or "Long, Uneven Hair". It's a curious mix of Vietnamese vocals and 60s rock. Although Thanh Mai might have been a bit young to sing it in the 60s, if her age is right.

But anyhow enjoy, if you like obscure 60s style you may enjoy this a lot! Also some background to this track would be great. Very enjoyable but assuredly not really Vietnamese music.

Maybe not really obscure but as someone in their 20's I always recommend Some Velvet Morning by Lee & Nancy, and 96 Tears by ? and the Mysterians, both classics and really catchy.
