Rydeen by Yellow Magic Orchestra (1979) It's not the type of music I usually go for, but I make an exception for YMO. For such an influential band, it's surprising how little name-recognition they have.
Danny Kirwan, "Second Chapter" the title track from his first solo LP in 1975. I heard this song on a San Francisco easy listening station in 1975 and went out and bought a copy right away...I love Danny Kirwan's style! This song is very melodic with a beautiful string arrangement.
Arthur Gee-Whizz Band - Sunday Sherry Wonderful psychedelic folk-rock track from their sole album "City Cowboy", released on the short-lived Denver/Colorado label Tumbleweed Records in 1972.
Black Sabbath with Dave Walker on vocals. This version of "Junior's Eyes" is entirely different from the Ozzy version. Black Sabbath: The Dave Walker Era – Green and Black Music
Quiet World - Sam B-side of their final single "The Visitor", released on Pye in 1971. Quiet World were an English band formed by The Heather Brothers (John, Lee, and Neil) in 1969; they also included future Genesis member Steve Hackett and his brother John Hackett.
Elton John performs a song from 1970 when he appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien in 1996. I don't know if this is considered obscure, but to me it is.
Mike Hurst - Lord I Don't Have the Time English musician and record producer. Best known as member of the British pop-folk vocal trio The Springfields, which comprised Dusty Springfield and her brother Tom, and whom Mike Hurst joined in 1962. In 1965 he started acting as a producer, his production credits including work for Marc Bolan, Cat Stevens, P.P. Arnold, The Spencer Davis Group, The Move, et al. In 1970 and 1971 he released two solo albums. "Lord I Don't Have the Time" is from his second album "In My Time", released on Capitol in 1971.
John Simon put out 2 albums in the early '70's that are classics IMHO. This is from his 2nd one. I saw him on his mini-tour promoting the album "Journey." It was like having him in your living room. He told stories about his songs and played requests, some that weren't even his songs. This has always been one of my very favorites.
Keith Christmas - Forest and the Shore Closing track from his third album "Pigmy", released in 1971 on B & C Records. English singer and songwriter who released five albums between 1969 and 1976. He returned to making records after a sixteen-year hiatus in 1992. Perhaps, Keith Christmas is best known for playing guitar on David Bowie's "Space Oddity" album.
