Name some examples of songs that were covered several times but were not hits and are relatively unknown. That is, the song was not a big hit for the writer, original artist or artists who covered it. An example would be "Running" composed by Joe Russo. A great song, covered by Chubby Checker, Carla Olson & The Textones/Phil Seymour, Outlaws and Terry Crawford (Canadian female vocalist from early 80's). Yet nobody had a hit with it. -"Sad Song", composed/performed by Mark Middler, covered by Rachel Sweet and Ellen Foley. An "It's A Heartache" clone that sunk without a trace. -The Blue Nile's "The Downtown Lights", covered by Annie Lennox and Rod Stewart. I think we should confine this to songs that were likely intended to be hits for the artists, rather than multiple covers of a Bob Dylan song intended as filler album cut.
