Ocean's 11 original questions (and reboots and sequels and...)

    I just started watching the 1960 original with Frank Sinatra on Amazon. I already don't get the intro- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 but only some of them with an actors name displayed. Huh? Why is that? The others were too minor? It seems too weird.

    On a more recent note of Ocean's 8, I commented in a preview that it was completely not believable that she finds the necklace in a fountain. They kept the scene as shot. Anyone else think that was ridiculous?

    The count is just part of an animated backdrop set to music for the opening credits. There is no intended relationship between the numerals and the actors’ names. (If so, Frank Sinatra would have been shown as #1 instead of #3.) The non-headliners in the group of eleven are listed together in smaller type on the next screen after the #11.
    Please don’t spoil Oceans 8 for those of us who haven’t seen it yet. Use tags like this:

    A bit off topic, but I just wanted to say I love the old Ocean's 11. A fun ride back to 1960 with lots of swing and great music :agree:

    I think it's a pretty lousy movie. Heck, it's barely a movie - it's more "Frank and his pals chum around"!

    Ah, so sorry! I totally spaced it! So, I shouldn't mention that she ends up dead? JK!!! Actually that tidbit doesn't matter much.
    The reboot-of which I've only seen 8-must be only vaguely related to the original. I do recommend it in a Mission Impossible or not-quite-Crank vein: don't-think-too-much-about-the-plot entertainment, fun, clever.[/QUOTE]

    There's about a half and hour of good stuff in the movie. The Vegas landscape.

    The movie needed more plot. Other than Richard Conte's character, the rest may as well have been Johnny Puleo and has Harmonica Gang.

    The original "O11" can be fun in a time capsule way, but like I said, it barely qualifies as an actual movie. It gets by on star power and not much else.

    The 2001 remake is infinitely superior!

    Yeah, those were glamorous days. When I started going to Vegas as a little kid, I had to have a suit and tie on to go out in the casinos where my uncle* worked. I must admit I was glad when things started to casual up and I could ditch the tie (I hate wearing ties). But as they say, be careful what you wish for, now it's pajamas and flip-flops and the glamour is gone baby gone :shake:

    *Vegas IS a warped town. I visited him one time and after arriving in the evening etc he asked if I was hungry. His idea of "a little snack" was someplace where even the fellow pouring the water had a full tuxedo on, and we were snarfing lobster and prime rib. I think the bill was $350 for two of us, and that was in like 1812 or something...

    I stumbled upon this on Ebay today:

    ....showing that Ocean's Eleven grand-opened this new theatre on Aug. 11, 1960, the second week of release nationwide.

    The theatre is this one, in Pompano Beach, FL, although Cinematour lists the wrong year for grand opening:
