My guess: album on the first CD, studio outtakes on the second and the Whiskey a Go Go 1968 gig on the third.

Actually, the third disc will probably be penalty track outtakes.

I'm not so sure about that.
To get the original vinyl mix of Cruisin' With Ruben & The Jets on cd you still have to pay close to 50 bucks, while the 80's remix is still being available for about $10. Läther has been reissued WITHOUT the worthwile bonus tracks that came with the original cd while we had to wait for aeons for the Roxy movie to appear. Not a 100% reliable, imo.
Besides that, are they really willing to go against what their dad had in mind? I'm holding my breath...

I believe the Penalty Tracks were added just for filler, so SOMEthing was there. At the time, CDs only carried 70 minutes, UM is just under 80, and two CDs @ 40 min looked kinda sparse (to Frank anyway). I doubt there was any big plan or concept for these inclusions. Just some stuff laying around that was sorta kinda related to UM.

Great news to wake up to. I haven't paid any attention to Zappa's posthumous releases until earlier this year (The Crux of the Buscuit), but since that album took me by surprise (in a good way) so I'll pick up all of this batch gladly.
Are there any other releases that I might be interested in? I have almost every album from Freak Out to YCDTOSA, but completely lost track after he passed away.

At least five alternate vocal takes of "Tengo na minchia tanta" and a fifteen-minute long interview to Massimo Bassoli.

Maybe not a big plan, but I suspect he thought that including it would help sales of the videocassette, which was still selling at about $49.98 at the time.

  10. Let's hope any new live Petit Wazoo release will be one of the rare concerts where they performed "Waka/Jawaka"!

The fans aren't getting any younger, I'm not interested in live stuff. Wouldn't mind a few SACDs starting with

Depending on your favourite era of Zappa, I would (highly) recommend getting:

    -Imaginary Diseases (1972)
    -FZ:OZ (1976)
    -Lumpy Money (1967-68)
    -Road Tapes #2 (1973)
    -Hammersmith Odeon (1978)

And if you don't own Civilization Phase III, get that too.

There are also a couple of 'good ones' from the 'Ryko Years', too:
    "Ahead Of Their Time"
    "The Lost Episodes"
    "Lather"
    "Mystery Disc"
You can see the entire posthumous catalogue (and click on each one to see track listings) right here:

Along with the Road Tapes 1973 release, my favorite full show release is Buffalo, a show with some great guitar from the final tour with Vinnie Colaiuta on drums.
