24/96 transfer of the original mix
5.1 and stereo remix by Steven Wilson
    Instrumental mixes

Must-buy for all those reasons above.

Ironic how The Missing Piece happens to be one of the found pieces while the others are reportedly well uh, missing lol. ;)

Fantastic. Which tracks have not been remixed?

This is good news. Octopus is one of my favorites. If this is done similar to The Power and The Glory with the imaginative graphics and the reasonable price (in comparison to SHM SACDS) it should be quite successful (with those of us that still care). I know that Gentle Giant has stated that there will not be a reunion tour, but it would be great if they could do a one-off TV appearance. I understand that Quest Love from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is a big fan.

The Advent of Panurge, Raconteur Troubadour, and The Boys In The Band, due to missing multitrack tapes.

My fav GG album, but I may wait for the remix of the remixed remix.

Bugger, the first two tracks in particular are the highlights to be sure. Oh well, Wilson will make it sound spectacular regardless. Oh, and I should reiterate that I was meant to be referring to the song 'Knots' with the vocals in 5.1, not 'Dog.'

How does the current remaster sound?

I might have gone for this if they had found ALL of the multi-tracks. Since I have the SHM SACD I think I'll pass.

The Vertigo Lp and SACD has something that I do not like. Needs more air IMO

So will those still be featured in surround? I know that he's been able to work around the lack of multitrack tapes in the case of King Crimson sometimes.

I'm in, this will be the 10th time buying this! But I love Gentle Giant. Saw there great " In a Glass House " tour at the Whisky in 1974 one of the best concerts of my life. I hope Steven does " In a Glass House " next.

The 2011 Alucard official remaster (from the master tapes) isn't bad but a bit too compressed.

There's always a reason, and you only need one, but given what they do have in this set I'm not bothered about the multitracks. After all, I'm in for the Steve Hackett boxed set for which most of the multitracks were missing.

Generally, though, I find that only about one of these Wilson remixes really connects with me per year: I've enjoyed the two last Jethro Tull remixes immensely, but I almost feel that I'm buying the Yes, XTC and Gentle Giant out of duty.

Well, although the SHM-SACD sounds fantastic, it was from a Japanese copy tape, which may or may not have been mastered.
The Hi-Res flat transfer of the orignal master in this edition sounds better according to Steven.

Is it true there is no DVD/CD this time, only BLUE RAY/CD?

Agreed, I happen to like the sound of all the Alucards actually.

My preference is blu-ray anyway so I'm happy that's the format chosen for this release.

Ironic...but not necessarily good news. Missing Piece is IMO their worst album.

Certainly feels that way for the XTCs. It's true the last two Tulls are very good. Minstrel is a piece of art.
