Ever heard a phrase that seems like a bizarre choice for a song title, and then discover that a totally different song has also used the same title? What would be some of your picks for this?

I’d have to go with “Might as Well Be on Mars,” which was a song by Pukka Orchestra in 1984...

...and another song by Alice Cooper in 1991.

It's not a terribly "odd" title, but it's still one that no one had thought of before.

Plastic Ono Band had "Give Peace a Chance," and that was followed by an entirely different song with that title by Leon Russell from his debut album.

And equally strangely, Russell had another song on that debut album called "I Put a Spell on You," but it was not the Screamin' Jay Hawkins number.

"If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You"-- Bob Dylan and Caravan. Only Dylan used the title in the lyric.

I wouldn't say odd, just kind of disturbing if by face value.

Not as odd as some others, but:

    - from the musical Promises, Promises, 1968; a hit for Dionne Warwick in 1970

    "Here Comes the Judge"
    - Shorty Long, 1968
    - Pigmeat Markham, 1968
    - The Magistrates, 1968

(Okay, one is "Nothing" and the other is "Nothin', " but still, pretty close ; )

Scottish Band Deacon Blue had a hit called Twist And Shout which was not the Isley Brothers/ Beatles song

Not as odd as some here, but a bit of research suggests these. I'm not 100% sure these are different songs, but I have checked a bit on Spotify and they *appear* to be separate songs.

For What It's Worth - Liam Gallagher and Buffalo Springfield
Waiting in the Wings - BBM and Diana Ross
Ringo Starr - Marc Martel and Smoking Crew, Behz, Jet Lag
There Goes the Neighborhood - Sheryl Crow and Bodycount
Open Your Box - Yoko Ono and Transparent Sound
Blue Lady - Hello Sailor and Labri Siffre
Happiness is a Warm Gun - Beatles and Ron van der Park

There must be at least four or five different songs titled, "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show".

Hope this isn’t viewed as a threadcrap or horribly OT, but if we extend this to TV episode titles, both CSI and Mama’s Family have episodes entitled “Rashomama”.

    Not odd but..

    I Need You The Beatles
    I Need You America

I only mention this because one of the guys in America tells the story of how he shared a limo ride with George Harrison once. He told George he had 'stolen' the song title from him. Harrison replied that it was ok because he had stolen it from someone else.
    Gotta love George

In their Live in Sydney (Australia) DVD, America do their song and apparently they segue into the Beatles song to finish the song. I say this because I have seen a non-USA version of the DVD box that lists the songs like that, including the songwriting credits.

The USA version of the DVD omits both the credits and the performance of the Beatles song, and you can tell there is a hard edit on the DVD, if you know when to look for it. It must be a royalty/copyright issue where America couldn't or wouldn't pay for the Beatle composition for the US rights, so they took it out of the USA version. Or maybe it was a world-wide problem that only came to light after an early run of the release?
