Crazy - I just watched that film for the first time today! If you'd posted yesterday, I wouldn't have recognized the movie! :)

Well, let's just say Small Wonder was the absolute worst American sitcom of the entire 1980s. And that includes the Different Strokes episode about child molestation.

William Zabka, from a bunch of '80s flicks, was always a guy you loved to hate. Was in Karate Kid, Back To School, Just One of The Guys, European Vacation and most recently, a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial..

I initially was just going to choose just Aaron Ekhart's character but then I remembered the film and they both are s***. That movie made me feel dirty.

That goes to show you how bad this book was. If only I could remember it's name. In this interview Dan Harmon mentions "Small Wonder" twice. http://www.avclub.com/article/dan-harmon-walks-us-through-icommunityis-second-se-57085

Also the photo is of Mercedes McCambridge as Emma Small in Johnny Guitar. When I saw this movie in the theater people applauded when she died.

Spader was the king of Odious in mid-late '80s films.

Sex, Lies and Videotapes is another example (but not nearly as bad as the ones mentioned.)

That Secretary movie later in his career with Jake Gylenhall's sister, Spader can be seen as Odious too if that type of sexual play repulses you.

The real question is, how many good guys has Spader really played in movies?

I remember one with Susan Sarandon where he seemed to be a good guy who just liked older women.
Of course there was the Good guy nerd as Daniel Jackson in Stargate.
I believe he was a straight cop (or maybe even a lawyer) who years later had to put the finger on his crooked partner, in a late '80s/early '90s film with another Brat Packer (thinking it was Judd Neslon or someone like that.)
And there was one where he married someone and the tables were turned. His wife was the Odious one who got him institutionalized in a nuthouse so she could get all his money. (Can't remember the name of the movie but I liked it. Late '80s or early '90s film, I think.)

Hold on here. Spader was the good guy in Bad Influence. Rob Lowe was the nefarious character.

Spader's snotty upper middle class patois really nailed it in Pretty In Pink and Less Than Zero, though.
He was perfect in Less Than Zero. A film that could have been much better had they stuck to the book. Huge disappointment.

I was going to post Aaron Eckart in The Company Of Men.
I don't think it gets any more disturbing, and good, because the guys and their attitudes are so realistic.
Aaron did such a good job. After the film came out, he said, a stranger, a woman, slapped him.

I know someone who wont watch a movie if Anthony Hopkins is in it due to his performance in Silence Of The Lambs.

My vote goes to Pauly Shore.
Run, don't walk, from a Pauly Shore movie.

Scorsese has a habit of making movies about awful, terribly flawed people. It's hard to find a movie of his that tells a story about noble, admirable people you'd like to get to know. Hugo would be a very rare exception.

Billy Bob Thornton's mechanic character in Oliver Stone's U Turn. Not someone you'd want to share a beer with. And I can't tell when he last had a bath.
