Does the Joshua Tree Japan sound better than the Mofi?

The Carananserai SACD from Japan is stellar.

The version with the additional 4 track CD single?
I thought the Priest mini LPs use the Remasters, and those are compressed to hi heavens...

I LOVE the sound of my Japanese Kate Bush CDs:

The Kick Inside - CP21-6082 (Pastmasters Series)

    Lionheart - CP32-5040 (Black Triangle)

    Never For Ever - TOCP-3007

    The Dreaming - TOCP-3008

Hounds of Love - CP32-5086 (Black Triangle)

I used to have US EMI CDs of all of these, and when I got the Japanese CDs, the difference was startling. The Dreaming & The Kick Inside, particularly, sounded significantly better to my ears, and as much as I especially loved these two, listening to them NOW is almost a religious experience!!

I've been led to believe the UK CDs of all these might sound just as good as the Japanese ones, but I've never heard those.

I knew Dark Side would make it to the list, but another original Floyd I like is the CP32-5272 for A Saucerful of Secrets...great sounding disc.

Avoid the original UK disc for ASoS though...it sounds like it has been stifled by NR.

  9. I have the originals on CD (Japan first pressings) and though I haven't given them a real listening workout yet I do like them. Can you explain how they were bettered by the re-releases? Thanks.

I really like the Rolling Stones - Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) London P25L 25039. Much better sounding than the SACD IMO.

I don't have many Japanese pressings, but I love my reissues of the 10cc albums Ten out of 10 and Windows in the jungle. Not only sound-wise, but also for the great bonus tracks.

Depends on the album. Very often they are different masterings.

Do you have an idea how your disc compares to the earlier P33L version? I just got the P33L disc the other day and hope to give it a spin tonight.

Also, does the P25L disc have the different album cover from the U.S. issues? The P33L disc has the "fishbowl lens" cover.

Not in much technical detail -- the remasters to me just have a clearer sound, the bass comes through a lot more and some of the tinniness that esp. Agharta had in spots is mitigated. The most significant change from the vinyl (not sure whether the Japan pressings had this) is an additional 40 seconds or so of "Maiysha" and about 10 minutes of additional length on "Jack Johnson" on the second disc.

Just got a Stevie Wonder Innervisions looks like a 1st Japanese pressing from '86 on cd. Initial sounds are excellent will have to compare against my MFSL.

I am sure some for the Japanese afficienados will know for sure if it is a 1st pressing.

Cat no is VDP-1068 made by Victor Industries. It is in mint condition and the good thing is I paid £9 for it off eBay.

I am now awaiting a Japanese 1st pressing Joe Walsh- Smoker coming in that I got for £12.

    Not a bad weeks work.

I have several Japanese pressings that I consider the best sounding, but the 35DP-4 is the version I consider my best sounding cd, all the way around.
