Olivia Newton-John puts tour on hold to battle breast cancer

Next Friday morning (Sept 22nd) NBC here in the states will air Olivia's first US television interview since her return to the public stage on the TODAY show. Natalie Morales flew to Australia to film the interview today (or yesterday, Aussie time) , and here is a short preview clip.

Quick update, word on Facebook tonight is that the Today interview in America will now air Thursday ( 21st)in the 8am hour and will be also on Access Hollywood in multiple parts Thursday and Friday.

Nice interview. Wonder what she's recording 'in the studio'? I seem to recall something was on the cards before her diagnosis.

 

John Farnam mentioned recently that he and Olivia were going back in to record a few new tracks for the reissue of their Christmas album. That may be it...Or Perhaps her recent diagnosis and recovery has inspired some songs and she's going to do another album proper soon.

 

I bet it's the Christmas thing. What with her being in Australia and all.

 

Yep. Although she resumes her tour here in the states this coming week.

 

A few updates...

'Friends For Christmas' is being re-released here in Australia this festive season with three additional songs: 'The First Noel', 'Here Comes Santa Claus' and 'One Little Christmas Tree'. Preorders on CD and digital formats are available at http://smarturl.it/FFC.DeluxeEdition

Olivia also features on a Sony music charity single with numerous artists, including former duet partners Human Nature, David Campbell and Delta Goodrem, to raise money for disadvantaged youth. The song is a cover of the Beatles' 'With A Little Help From My Friends'. You can read an article about it here. John and Olivia sing the opening line and a couple of others throughout.

The Delta Goodrem led biopic Channel 7 were producing has now been pushed back to their 2018 schedule. It is still going to be a two-part miniseries and to promote it an image of Delta as Olivia filming 'Grease' has been shared:

She's looking and sounding better than ever. Just absolutely amazing. I'm so extremely proud of her and proud to be a fan of hers.

Still unsure about the Delta biopic. She doesn't look too bad in the Sandy get up. I'm still curious about how it turns out. It could go either way.

 

I'm also excited as she will be in Pennsylvania on November 13th. I have purchased my tickets and plan to make the trek from Virginia to see her at last!

So she didn't have radiation or a masectomy the first time around?

 

She had a partial mastectomy and chemotherapy the first time around.

While I hate the practice of CDs being rereleased with a couple of new tracks just so they can get us to buy the albums again, I know I'll be buying the Christmas album again. At least in Olivia's case I know some of the money will be going to support her cancer center, so I don't feel so bad about that.

Have a great time! Remember she is 69, not 39. Its's really amazing that she is honoring her previous commitments, but it is also a good sign that she feels she has time and energy to do this.

 

Great Christmas album though! Just be thankful they didn't amend the Travolta one!
I thought it was going to be a whole album though, but in light of her health issues I can understand not doing this now.

Here's 'The First Noel'. It's a lovely arrangement - a little less pop than Olivia's 1999 solo version of the song, but it's a very nice listen. Olivia really pushes herself with her vocals here.

Anyone checked out Chloe’s Instagram lately? It would seem she’s had some sort of spiritual rebirth...

 

Well...If it's sincere, good on her for growing up.

Perhaps it has something to do with the tabloid rumors she's trying to have a baby with her guy.

 

Or maybe she’s just run out of new low cut tops to wear.
