Olivia Newton-John. Yay or Nay?

Thought you folks might like seeing this original poster, from 1979. I got it from my local indy record store back in the day. Not too many of these around anymore...

It's 24" x 36"

 

I can remember watching that on TV in the UK..

 

It was like a trial run for Live Aid.

 

I don't recall posting this prior, but... I got to interview and meet Olivia earlier this year. I've been a fan practically all of my life (since I was a boy in the late 1970s), so it was a major highlight. I also got to see her live for the very first time.

I wrote an article trilogy- the first is on her impact and influence, etc.; the second, a sidebar on Grease/acting and soundtracks; and the third, the concert review. For those who taking the time to read, I hope you enjoy them.

'"One Little Christmas Tree" is a nice song- I'd never heard it, but apparently Stevie Wonder recorded it for his 1967 album. Not sure if his was the original.

This is the first time I'd ever seen a picture of Lee Kramer. Or maybe I didn't know it was him? Of course I've seen his name and knew of his affiliation with Olivia.

 

Hard to imagine. Moving to the states paid off in many ways for Olivia! Lucky for us.

 

The U.K. doesn't deserve her. We love her here in the states.

 

Lee was regularly pictured with Olivia from the mid-70s. I think they broke up around the time of Xanadu which was when she took up with Matt.

 

I love these early articles where a more open Olivia repeatedly threw shade at the UK for not buying enough of her records.

 

Thanks, John. I was hoping Olivia and the "girls" would have had a Liv On concert in the area/surrounding area before year's end, but, alas, no. Maybe next year- that, or another solo Olivia show.

This weekend, Olivia's been performing her last concerts of 2017. Given her health issues, to say she's a trooper and very dedicated to her craft would be an understatement.

 

Yes, especially her singles post Physical till the late 80s.

Juliana Hatfield is going to release an album of all Olivia covers.

 

Interesting. Tentatively titled Hopelessly Devoted To Liv. There are a 2 or 3 live versions of Hatfield’s covers on YouTube.

I've never forgiven MCA for that Compact Disc Compact Price logo they stuck on the artwork of some of their best sounding discs.
