    It bugs me that..

You know the ending of the movie 'Help' where the credits roll, and the lads are lolling about, then George sees his name and song in the credits and yells them out..

But the more modern versions on VHS (DVD?) have redone the credits, and now George just seems to yell it out for no reason.

I could only make it through about the first hour of the first day before I gave up and cherrypicked though the rest of the Nagra reels (courtesy of the epic A/B Road bootleg) using Ray and Doug's Get Back! book as a guide.

  4. A few years ago I tried and failed this, after a couple hours. I came away feeling that I now truly understood the depth behind Ringo's general expression in the movie.

Nahhh, I meant DAVID Cassidy of The Jefferson Hairplane.

You got me. I always forget.

Quick! who can think of another famous rockin' Cassidy/Casady?

I have let it be and hardly ever watch, nor the 10 or so outtake discs that circulate.
On the other hand, a more acceptable project for Giles to butcher than what he's already done.

I'd get the DVD cheap, probably wouldn't spend extra for a Blu-ray.

Which, of course, was George's plan all along by inviting Billy to the sessions.

Their going through the motions, as if a standard dismal job. George Martin was desperately needed.
The Beatles lost the discipline they once had, only Ringo to me plays like a professional musician.

Let It Be (the film) is a lot more authentic and interesting than the so-called Eight Days a Week foolishness.

Must he torture us like this?

First of all, I like the original film. I like that it's depressing. That's part of what is good about it.

I like the idea of a re-edit that celebrates the music, but I still want the original, as well.

    It'll come out. Eventually.

    In our lifetime? We'll see.

If Yoko and Olivia are the holdups, then when they're both gone, it'll come out.

If it's Ringo and/or Paul, then it'll come out when they're gone.

If it will make money, it'll come out. Sometime.

And the original cuts of the Star Wars movies will be re-released once George Lucas passes. Guaranteed!

Quoted from the linked article. " The release would not be the original film, but rather a completely new edit, based on film footage that had never been used before".

Here's the thing. While I would absolutely welcome a new version, I think its important that it be released side by side with a restored version of the original. This nonsense about saving the Beatle brand and rewriting history is no good. Yes, there were probably many, many scenes showing them enjoying themselves, but let's be realistic, all hell broke loose a few months later. That didn't just happen overnight and Let it Be shows that.
