What are some artists that have only released one album people care about?
I mean stuff like Woody Guthrie/Louis Prima and not stuff like Sex Pistols.

I don't mean bands that only released one album. I just mean artists who only released one major album and some other stuff.
    This is a example.

Lauryn Hill - Miseducation of Lauryn Hill comes to mind. It sold millions and got rave reviews and then she was gone soon after and only did an MTV Unplugged album afterwards. It still remains one of the best 90s albums in my mind.

    The Score though.
    Only one album released imo.

Supertramp, perhaps? Their one big album, "Breakfast In America," probably outsold all the rest of their catalog by itself. More than likely the only album casual listeners would know or care about.

Nah, that's like saying Fleetwood Mac and their big album Rumours. Wait, you may have a point. I guess it depends on who you ask.

Yeah, but that was more of a group album... Lauryn Hill was way more talented emcee than the rest of them.

Maybe, but I think most fans would rate "Even in the Quitest Moments" or "Crime of the Century" very highly. (Not to mention Crisis, my fave).

How about George Michael - Faith album? Did people care for George Michael after that album?

That's a good choice, although she maintained some popularity for awhile she never came close to that level of success.

Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton - John Mayall has had other albums, with and without the Blues Breakers (or is that Bluesbreakers?), and established quite a proving ground for young British rock talent. A lot of folks know his name. But I think this is the only album by him most people own (as is true with me.)

I think some of his albums were successful in their day (up through the early 70's). I have a Mayall box set that has some pretty cool stuff on it - but in general you're right - the "featured" guitar slinger far outstripped the boss.

But that's fans of the band. To the general public, "Breakfast In America" is probably the only album they could name.
