    This came in on a bookseller's list I'm on, but if you live in California or intend selling things to people there you might want to know about it, too.

    =============

    Some members may not know about the new California autograph law--AB 1570--which went into effect January 1, 2017.

    A petition to the California legislature to repeal, or modify, the law has been started by the California booksellers Brad and Jen Johnson.

    You can read about the law and the petition here:

    California State House: Repeal California Assembly Bill 1570 ยป

    Brad and Jen started the petition a week ago and currently about 1050 individuals have signed.

    If you want your name to appear online as a signer, you do need to put something in the Comments box.

    For those who may not wish to make a comment but do wish to have their name visible, you can just repeat your name in the comments box.

    At the moment there is a group of 6 California booksellers (all members of ABAA) who are coordinating this repeal/modify effort, but non-ABAA booksellers in California (such as Chris Volk of IOBA) are also very much involved.

    Wait... It sounds like the gist of the law is if you sell and item AND represent the signature as genuine then you have to provide you contact info.

    Not sure I am seeing the problem.

    If you aren't sure don't sell it representing the signature genuine.
