Woo hoo! Bring it on! Long time Kill fanboy here!
Saw them live on the White Devil Armory tour in 2014 (for the first time in 20 years) and they can still bring it!

    Auto buy for me too.

I saw the news on Friday on their Facebook page. Was going to post something about it here then never got around to it.

A few months ago in one of their short news updates, on their website, they had mentioned they were writing a new album but no details were given except for a hopeful release date around October. Looks like it will be pushed into November now according to the recent story/interview.

    Edit:

Overkill's consistency in releasing a new studio album is 2nd to none. You can expect a new album every 2 years, give or take a few months.

They are also expected to release a new live release soon too. They recorded and filmed a recent show in Germany earlier in the year in which they performed a couple classic albums in their entirety (Feel The Fire and Horrorscope.)

Yep. They still rock as hard, if not harder, as they did back in the '80s. Blitz still sounds great and D.D.'s bass (and songwriting) still brings life to the band. The guys on guitars and drums round out an excellent band. I think this lineup of Overkill that they've had for the past 10 years or so is the best lineup, and most stable, they've ever had. Blitz and D.D. are the heart and soul of the band, but the other guys put excitement back into the band.

I saw them twice on Ironbound tour and once on Electric Age tour (supposed to have been twice but Blitz got sick during the tour and they had to cancel remaining tour they were co-headlining with Testament.) They didn't come anywhere near me for the White Devil Armory tour. So, I missed seeing them then.

(Side note: Testament is releasing a new album this year too called Brotherhood of the Snake around the same time as Overkill's.)

Auto buy for me too, although I think the last couple of releases have been mostly average for them, which is still decent. Ironbound was outstanding so hopefully they can reach that level again. Loved Ironbound and the concert I saw for that tour in Portland has the distinction of being the only concert I have ever attended where I put my earplugs in my pocket, the sound was just perfect. That is a rarity for any style of concert, much less metal. Also got to talk to Blitz a little bit after the Immortalis concert I saw, very nice guy! Thanks for the heads up on the new release!

Always good news to hear of Overkill releasing new stuff. Horrorscope remains one of my (and many others', I'm certain) favorite thrash albums. IMO, the minor line-up changes undergone by the band have never affected the quality and sheer POWER of the music. If you like powerful metal guitar you could do much worse than to plunge straight into Overkill's very substantial discography. For my friends who begin to express even the tiniest interest in extreme metal, I always provide them with a copy of this album. Many people were converted after a few spins of Horrorscope or one of the other excellent releases by this super-talented band.

Both songs are pretty good. I think I like MGKM a little better than Our Finest Hour.

Any opinions on the Historikill 1995-2007 Box set? I don't own any Overkill Cds and am considering getting this.

Historikill doesn't cover their entire career and, IMO, doesn't include any of their essential albums.

I'd recommend starting with any of the following:
    Feel The Fire (1985)
    Taking Over (1986)
    The Years Of Decay (1988)
    Horrorscope (1991)
    Ironbound (2010)
