Parametric EQ'a (Part 4 in a continuing saga)

I'm curious what people think of T.C. Electronics? As a guitarist I've always been enamored of their processors (the fabled creamy Chorus box, for example), and I've always been under the impression that they make high quality stuff.

So, it turns out they make an Eq at the $1000 price range:

Much more affordable than the $4000+ Manley or Avalon units.

But - are they decent sounding?

I'm less interested in the sub-$1k units that have 12AX7 tubes in them. I want something more neutral than "tubey" for an eq.

Anyone have experience with TC gear? Is it worth checking out?

I have not heard any Parametrics in years other than Mastering versions of GML, Sontec, etc.

Jamie's picks look interesting, but then he likes EMI compressors, heh....

Ahem... the Avalon is A LOT out of my price range :D

So the Toft is the right price, but I don't need all the bells and whistles (compressor, mic pre).

Have you heard this unit, Jamie?

    Thanks again for the advice!

Haven't heard the Toft. Malcolm Toft has designed some classic gear over the years though. It's distributed by Joe Meek and my buddy (the owner)over there has talked me out of several items he carries because he didn't like the sound of them. He suggested I try this box.

    Remember, it's solid state.
