I'm quite okay with Kristin and am looking forward to seeing Kate McKinnon outside of SNL as I think she's fantastic. I have a few reservations about McCarthy but Leslie Jones is the one I imagine will be the truly loud and obnoxious one. She seems to be a completely one note act on SNL.

Cool - so she's getting the role Aykroyd originally wrote for the fat, loud and obnoxious John Belushi!

Looks good to me. I'm glad they're not simply trying to remake the original. And, the Fuddy-duddy predictions herein only strengthen that feeling.

So who's going to be the female cast for Rick Moranis' character?

  6. Such indifference. All-female lead cast? Something about Harold Ramis... Ghost cameo... Turning in his grave joke. Meh.

I tried, but no - it's probably best to just let this franchise lie. Still, at least I won't have to keep defending Ghostbusters II as being the worst in the series for much longer!

Gotta admit I don't understand all the negativity about this. Will it be a good movie? Maybe, maybe not, but even if it stinks, so what?

I'll give it a shot - it may be fun. And if it's bad, oh well...

"See, it's just like the original Ghostbusters.. but they're GIRLS! Isn't that clever?"...

    sigh.

This kind of idea wouldn't be funny as a 5 minute SNL sketch, much less a feature-length movie.

Well the crow remake is not happening nethier is highlander so
there is hope some classics can be left alone.

Once the script gets leaked lets see how sony takes it from public
once again. Oh... lets do another rewrite
I never seen a director so obsessed with women especially with Melissa.?
    She's no Madeline Khan.

I'll give this a chance and to some extent I am looking forward to see how this is done but it's treading on some very sacred ground. This is one of the few things that could legitimately ruin my childhood if done bad.

I loved Star Wars as a wee lad. The prequels sucked bad. My opinion of Star Wars, and my childhood memories of it, have not been diminished or ruined because of Jar Jar Binks.

As for a Ghostbusters reboot: sure, why not. If the Coen brothers can remake True Grit, why not a remake of Ghostbusters? And why not mix things up a bit with a female cast? Could be good, or it could be bad, I don't care much either way.

Wondering if they'll keep the "It's true; this man has no dick" joke. Gawd, I laughed at that, and it's still makes me grin now.

The true test of how good (or bad) it's gonna be.... it's gotta be "R-rated", or else I won't watch it!
Hate to be that 'black & white' about it... but, IMO, McCarthy & cast only truly 'shine' when they can "R" it up!

Gotta admit, Bobby Brown's "On Our Own" from the sequel made the movie for me. Love that New Jack Swing.

Tell that to the heads of the studios, they are the ones choosing to do remakes, sequels and reboots because they are easier to make, cost less and have a built-in audience. Original ideas are a much tougher sell and a riskier investment from a financial perspective.

  23. With Leslie Jones in the cast, that is by no means a safe bet.

My wife (like every other living female apparently) loved Bridesmaids so I watched the DVD with her. Hated it and hated Melissa McCarthy. Now, for some bizarre reason, I find her totally hilarious. Just watched Spy two nights ago and enjoyed it. Also I have a thing for Kristen Wiig so I'm definitely going to give this movie a chance.
