It's the strangest archive and reissue campaign I've ever seen. With Dylan there's a 10CD box set every third week and with McCartney it's an album every third year.
I've completed my analysis. And here is what I have learned: Holy Thursday is also known as the "Thursday of Mysteries". Very appropriate, indeed.
C'mon people (to coin a phrase). I want the Flowers set as much as anyone, but look at the facts (or at least what we know/can reasonably surmise). Paul is signed to Capitol now and Flowers won't be coming out in 2016. He's preparing a new album for next year, and Capitol will start reissuing his back catalogue, in some form, in July. The chances of them kicking off with an album which peaked at 21 in the US and is largely forgotten by most of the public are, I would suggest, slim. And I can't see three major McCartney releases in the same year. Yes, it was all prepared and ready to go. But it won't be the first music project (even in Paul's career) to be shelved at the last minute, nor the last. I suspect we have another long wait ahead of us.
Thank you, makes sense. I don't believe anything new, or old, will be showing up before the Capitol deal takes effect in July 2017.
Is it even possible for the new album to come out before then, like any contractual reasons? I believe the catalogue stuff will appear in July 2017, and the new album not too long before, May 2017 perhaps? Unless legal reasons says otherwise
I see nothing in the Capitol press release that the label will follow Concord in style or package. Nothing !!! Capitol only reflects on the success of Concord, nothing else. Capitol is a completely different label. The catalog will be given a new make over. Since 2010, when those packages were first conceived, so many more box sets , that have turned onto monster box sets, have come along. Back in 2010, it was only the beginning of opportunities of how catalogs could be presented in such plentiful way. Flowers will come, but those Macca Archives are dated against the new boxes coming out these days. It's over... expect a new catalog ...Capitol' s plan , not Concord.
First, Brexit. Next, the USA election. And now your analysis of where we stand with the Flowers Archive set. What's happening in this world???
Well, I'm getting pretty old, but I promise to be showing up here every single day, no matter what....
....Can we make this happen? Is there a loophole to make this happen? Make America DOOOOO-OOO-OOO!!! in 2020!
"But it won't be the first music project (even in Paul's career) to be shelved at the last minute" How many incarnations of "Cold Cuts"?
I was talking about then the horrors of being an adult, paying rent, making car payments, etc etc but maybe that's why I like to show up here to the ole forum, to discuss life's more important issues, and how much more issues are "coming soon" to the Archive Collection...
@Sean Murdock, c'mon now... you've been around here long enough to know that this group of people will debate anything, like if the sun is hot.
