Given that I think McCartney II's archive treatment has been the best of this series thus far, mirroring that approach to RRS would be amazing to me.

OTOH I didn't get to hear Wild Life until the 1990s. I knew all about RAM when I was I kid, I knew all about RRS but this fell between the cracks. There was no single, nothing was ever played on the radio and nobody I knew had this album.
Anyway by 1990 I had given up on Paul. The last album I had bought was BTTE and the stuff I heard on the radio was pretty bad (I really hated Ebony and Ivory with a passion. Still do.) So when I finally picked up this LP it was like finding a brand new prime time Paul album. I was listening to a lot of indie rock at the time and going to see lots of live music in local pubs so the loose feel of Wild Life was right in tune with what I was listening to (Paul 20 years ahead of the curve, again). Its got a great opening track, and apart from Bip Bop I think it's all terrific. I just love the energy and playfulness that pours out of the grooves. It sounds like Paul et al really enjoyed themselves recording this. A top Paul album in my books and I guess I am in a minority again by declaring my love for this. I am really excited for the bonus tracks and as others have requested I would love to hear a great quality 1972 concert. Bring on the re-issue.
And then bring on LT and BTTE as soon as possible. I don't care what happens to the comprehensive plan after that!!

Here's a question (or 2) for Macca scholars regarding RRS.
    1. Re Little Lamb Dragonfly. Henry gets no credits. Denny L is credited with backing vocals on the inner page of the LP booklet. Were his vocals the only overdubs for RRS?
    2. Re Get On The Right Thing. Neither Henry nor Denny L get a credit. Is this the original version from the RAM sessions or did Paul add something himself during RRS sessions?
    3. Re Single Pigeon. Denny S is credited with bass, Denny L is credited with drums. Is this just an error?
    4. BBB. Of course there was a fragment of this on RAM. Was RRS version recorded from scratch or was there a basic track surviving from RAM sessions?
    5. The recording sessions for Mary Had a Little Lamb should have been a red flag to Henry. How did he manage to hang around as long as he did playing music which was so at odds with his talent?

You've got some excellent questions there. I don't have any answers, but I will say that "Get On The Right Thing" simply doesn't sound like it's from the Ram sessions (although I know it is). It's got a much more full and rounded production style. Whether this is because of later overdubs, or simply avoiding the phase error introduced into the Ram master tapes, I would love to know!

    01. Imagine [Take 1]
    02. Too Many People
    03. Crippled Inside [Take 6 Alt. Solo]
    04. 3 Legs
    05. Jealous Guy
    06. Dear Boy
    07. Give Me Some Truth
    08. Monkberry Moon Delight
    09. Oh My Love [Take 6]
    10. Heart Of The Country
    11. It's So Hard [Take 6]
    12. Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey
    13. How? [Take 31]
    14. The Back Seat Of My Car

NOTE: Yes, a lyric or two might have to be changed to avoid offending each other. Yes, this playlist is too long -- 50 minutes -- for a typical 1971 LP, but I can't think of which two tracks to delete (it would have to be one John and one Paul to be fair). Anyway, I was looking for my old post where I expressed complete confidence that there would be no Archive Collection releases this year -- it seemed only fair to call myself out on it -- and found this old post. The playlist is fun, and makes good use of the new Imagine box. The songs go very well together -- almost a "heart play" (a la Double Fantasy) between John and Paul. John preaches peace, Paul says "too many people preaching"; John says "crippled inside," Paul's dog got three legs; John's a jealous guy, Paul rubs it in ("Dear Boy") -- and so on. Give it a listen -- we have three weeks until WA50 and over a month until Wild Life and RRS -- you have to listen to something! :righton:

Found it! It was in another thread, but it belongs here:
So it's starting to look like I'm dead wrong about this -- happy to be, I suppose, but ... wow. An expensive fourth quarter of 2018 is about to get a whole lot more expensive ... if the rumors are true, of course. Guess we'll find out on Thursday...

I don’t have technical proof but a good way to determine is to listen to the drum sound. “RAM” has a very distinct drum sound, and that sound is also heard on “Get On The Right Thing”, “Little Lamb Dragonfly” and “I Lie Around”. Contrast that with the drum sounds on stuff like “One More Kiss” and it’s night and day to me.

Sean, if I was going to put these two guys ( :p) together in a comp I'd need more rocking from Paul . I would easily substitute "Smile Away" or "Eat at Home" for "Monkberry Moon Delight" which never did anything for me and/ I'd lose "Heart of the Country" for" Little Lamb Dragonfly" also.

But, I'm the guy that was never crazy about forum favorite "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" .:hide:

So, my comp would shake out differently . :D

What a fourth quarter for Beatles and solo Beatles music, and music in general!

    So how about this ?

    Too Many People
    Crippled Inside
    Dear Boy
    Jealous Guy
    Smile Away
    How
    3 Legs
    Oh My Love
    Eat At Home
    It's So Hard
    Little Lamb Dragonfly
    Give Me Some Truth
    Back Seat of My Car
(15 or 20 second pause) then
    Imagine

  13. Gotta have Monkberry Moon and wouldn’t alternate back and forth between John and Paul for the entire ride.

Well lets see your comp smarty pants .
    :D

I don't really think its a comp that I would actually make but I was just presenting an alternate version of Sean's comp and he alternated songs so to stick with his format, I did. :p

I thought his comp needs a couple of stronger songs from Paul.

I think" Monkberry Moon Delight" is stupid and the background vocals are really annoying, so I encourage you to use it in your comp... so I can dismiss it.

There is no McCartney album that would be made better by including solo Lennon.

My anticipation is reaching an internal fever pitch right now. Every time the last few days that I've stopped to think about it I can feel my excitement physically build up. Come on MPL, give it to me...my body is ready!

I know that we have always been the two biggest Wildlife boosters here so it's great we are gonna get an archive edition sooner rather than later.
I'll like the archive Red Rose Speedway archive edition also.
I was tepid about the album at its original release time. I like it more now but maybe its just a nostalgia thing at this point .

After these two I'd like a Back to the Egg archive edition but wouldn't be as excited about any others, at this point anyway.

If they ever do a Broadstreet archive edition I'm gonna puncture my eardrums and go deaf, just as a preventative in case I might accidentally hear any of it. :D

Plastic Ono Band would be great but I'm not sure what they could fill up an archive edition with.

Maybe John had some cutesy songs left in the can from the POB sessions he forgot to use ala "Monkberry Moon Delight" or songs sung in a funny voice singing about butter that wouldn't melt so he put it in the pie ... sort of thing!

I used to love the Beatles more than anything on Earth, and they're still up there. But the older I get the more I think of them as the band Paul McCartney was in before he became "Paul McCartney". Just my opinion though.

I haven't gotten to this point (yet), but I will say that, in my opinion, while John, George, and even Ringo had a few good and even great albums between the three of them, the three of them needed Paul far more than he needed them and forcing his hand with the whole Klein situation was the biggest mistake any of them made.

Yes he's happy with me and he's got lots of things to do... like visit a vocal specialist soon I hope. :p

No, Egypt Station is dead to me now.
I don't have the time to sit around and listen to month old music .
I like to be on the cutting edge.

As far as the Paul vs. John brewhaha developing here let's can it.

We all realize the Beatles band thing was just a time waster until Ringo blossomed as a songwriter .

    Admit it:

Coochy Coochy > Tug of War
    Drumming is My Madness> Imagine

That's true. I've always said that a musical experience isn't really complete until I know what someone did when they woke up this morning.
