Er, he was making a joke connection between songs with "walk" in the title or lyric and my pedestrian comment.

Duh -- thanks for cluing me in on that one. :magoo: Totally missed the "walk"/pedestrian bit and just assumed the "walk" connection made them generic. Sorry, SIA

Only in this sense: Love songs are songs about love, so pedestrian songs are songs about ________.

Seriously, though, :shtiphat:I like all of those songs, and my lame joke wasn't meant to imply that the songs are earthbound or bipedal. They're all stellar songs. By the way, "Golden Years" is a David Bowie song.

Edit: Just noticed this has been cleared up. I spaced out on selecting the frog with the top hat.

My guess as to how the upcoming Archive Releases will be released...IF Paul continues the series:

    2016 - Wild Life/Red Rose Speedway
    2018 - London Town/Back To The Egg
    2020 - Tug Of War/Pipes Of Peace

I do love this site: we spend pages and pages chuntering about the lack of info regarding upcoming releases and then as soon as they're announced everyone migrates to a new thread in order to dedicate pages and pages to chatting about the (potentially) next upcoming releases, abandoning chat about the releases we now know something about... :)

Why has Paul been reluctant to re-release Rainclouds, I'll Give You a Ring, and Ode to a Koala Bear? Because they were recorded the night John Lennon was killed?

They weren't. Rainclouds was, but not the other two.

But then why hasn't Paul re-released them? Now would be a perfect time to do so.

I'm more optimistic than that. So far, we've gotten an Archive release annually from 2010 to 2014. So I believe the release schedule will be more like:

    2015 - Wild Life/Red Rose Speedway
    2016 - London Town/Back To The Egg
    2017 - Tug Of War/Pipes Of Peace

The order may differ, of course, but I expect to see some Archive release in each of the next 3 consecutive years. No reason for them to skip every other year. So far, they haven't, and I don't think they will.

Did you mean to skip 2015?

Clueless as I sounded, I do know that song -- just never saw the "walk" subtitle : )

The digital mixing decks, even then, allowed you to "save" the levels -- in theory, they could throw the analog tape on, upload the levels and have the mix exactly the same - they could mix these into 24/192 and then give us a legit hi-res release - for Tug of War - songs like Wanderlust and Take It Away would be stunning in hi-res.

Oh, no. My fault. Another little humorous touch. That part is sung, but it's not really part of the title. (You're really putting me through the deconstruction of a joke here.:help:)

no fault -- I did figure out what was going on, hence the "analog" smiley on my post.

    Archive releases:

    Band On The Run: 2010
    McCartney / McCartney II: 2011
    Ram: 2012
    Wings Over America: 2013
Venus & Mars / At The Speed of Sound: 2014

Looks like MPL/Concord have settled on a scheduling of one batch of Archive releases per year. Of course, I'd prefer 2 batches per year (say, spring and fall).
But if one batch is what it is, I can accept that.

Just give me the next "Coming Soon" though. That's all I need....

There could be a million reasons. Why would you randomly pick date of recording as being a reason? Don't forget, he's only had ONE go at re-releasing his catalogue. It's not like he's passed up the songs on half a dozen reissues. Back in 1993, the story was that Paul didn't want to dilute the Tug of War album. Obviously, at that point he thought very highly of the album. Perhaps now, he thinks that the current format of the Archive Collection will allow him to add those songs to the album without them having a detrimental effect. Who knows?

the pace is ridiculous. CD shelf space in retail stores is vanishing quickly. Casual buyers won't even know that these are out, which means that fans are going to get them, so put 'em all out and let fans buy them all at once or at their own pace.

So since we're discussing the possible Tug Of War / Pipes Of Peace Archive sets: What bonus tracks will go on these? As per most Archive releases, let's keep the bonuses to about 8 or so tracks:

    Tug Of War Bonus Tracks:
    Rainclouds
    I'll Give You A Ring
Ebony & Ivory (solo; no Stevie)
Take It Away (45 version; clean opening)

    Pipes Of Peace Bonus Tracks:
    Ode To A Koala Bear
    Say Say Say (12" mix)
    Twice in a Lifetime
Simple As That (Or was this recorded a few years later, and so should not appear here?)
    We All Stand Together
We All Stand Together (Humming Version)

    What else?

Paul did NOT write these. So, in my opinion, I do not think they will turn up on any of Paul's Archive sets.

I suppose that the other bonus tracks will be demos (most likely including the one for Wanderlust, and maybe Ballroom Dancing), and unreleased songs (didn't Etcetera mention that one had recently been discovered?).
