Paul McCartney having questionable taste in music shouldn't shock anybody

I love Paul but I'm chalking this up to his perpetual need to appear young and hip, even at the age of 72. I'm no fan of rap but I can at least respect (and enjoy) some of what Jay-Z has done. But Kanye is such a massive D-bag (sorry in advance, mods, if that's inappropriate!) that I can't get past it (plus I don't like his "music.")

He says he also loves Kanye West! You should have made that the headline.

  7. He probably doesn't read this forum either, elitist bastige. :tsk: (McCartney, not you)

I think he is going overboard to try and be cool. He should just be himself. What more does he need to prove?

I don't think he has to try all that hard, he seems pretty laid back and is probably a lot less judgmental about people like Kanye West than many Beatles fans, who (it seems) simply see their age and mortality when looking at the success and acclaim of something they don't understand.

Paul also recently said he twerked with Katy Perry. I'm inclined to think you're absolutely right.

In the 80s he said he was a fan of Heavy D. So who knows?

    Jeez, Sir Paul......
If only you HAD 'tweaked' with Katy Perry......and filmed it!
It'd be like the 'Lennon&Dylan in the limo' video for the modern era!

That would be an interesting thread: Who in music, would you prefer, that McCartney would be listening to, nowadays?

My ULTIMATE fantasy is for Paul to do an album of They Might Be Giants 'covers'!

On one hand, it's great that Paul is always open to anything and always has been. He's a wolverine and it shows in the width of his body of work. On the other hand, it's sometimes starting to get a bit sad how he always wants to remain part of the popular hit scene and show how hip he is in an embarrassing way. What he considers hip is very mainstream and not up to the standards of someone with his credentials. He's out of touch with what's REALLY happening and is namedropping artists active in the kids pop market.
