Nice. I'll have to think about it but generally agree. Only one I don't agree, off hand, is Fuh You. I can't see that on New.

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

The horns on the medley on side 4 sound a lot like the Who's 5:15. Hunt You Down.

Paul Weller is godlike in the U.K.? Not saying i doubt you, but if he could get arrested in the U.S. that would be a miracle

I just realized the obvious question: did @RayS opt "in" for the cd, meaning it was redeemed, or was it automatically sent to him?

The calculation would be completely different if automatic. Would mean 100% of that venue, meaning sales would be in hundreds of thousands.

Based on the "industry average " thing I can't image this to even be an option. Otherwise everyone would do it (and U2 didn't do themselves any favors when they did their giveaway...though I guess I don't know how it worked for them in terms of Billboard numbers).

I think the tour could help sales as well...In terms of CDs and Vinyl, do you think Paul will only sell Egypt Station at his shows? or will he have a small selection of other records available?

Can anyone in the know comment on what merch is available on the Freshen Up Tour?

Is this really the right ES thread to post such an ES comment? :shh:

That was a bonus/hidden track, and not part of the proper album, so I didn't count it.

I received my orange / blue copy on Monday and the first thing I did while digitizing it was to remove four "ichiban"s from each occasion they occur in 'Back In Brazil'. It was simple to make a seamless edit and the song sounds so much better for it.

    Blasphemy, I know.

Does that mean you shortened that section or removed it completely?

Edit: Never mind, I see that you completely removed it.

Scared was definitely meant to close the album, they even placed it as the last track on the deluxe version. So it's not really a bonus track, it's pretty much like Her Majesty
And that makes Egypt Station and New both finishing on the word "now"....

Was Egypt Station meant to be a double album more tracks /songs ala Quadraphenia( REd ROse SPeedway was originally a double album)?

No, I didn't completely remove it. What I'm left with is "ichiban, ichiban, ichiban-ban-ban-ban-ban-ban-ban".

I did attempt to remove both sections completely but, while I got close to a seamless edit, it just wasn't possible.

I say rock because that's what category you always find McCartney albums in. Also that's what McCartney himself calls them. But I certainly agree it's hard to call it rock with those type songs on it. Not one of my faves, but Wanderlust would probably be great performed live, just imagine the horn section blasting away.

As I always say, it's one of the things I love about McCartney's music, there's something for everyone.

Fact is though that streaming has changed EVERYTHING. Physical product is clinging on, but barely.

I opted in. I had to follow a link in an email from Ticketmaster, and the CD was to be shipped (theoretically anyway) from the "Ticketmaster Store".
