Prime example: From A Lover To A Friend
A really strange song, crazy choice for a single, but I really love it, the whole vulnerable, naked, raw feeling of it, lovely melody, plaintive voice, lovely piano.... BUT then comes the inexcusably awful section... oooh la la la la... ummalemma (took me years to discover he was singing "I'm in a dilemma"... not to mention the awful "despite too easy ride to see" line.
Anyway, I made an edit of the song, cutting out the la la la section entirely, and hey presto, the track is saved and can now be played without ill effect.
Another pet hate of mine is songs that start with "And". So I made an edit of Only Love Remains and am working on My Love, to remove the offending word at the beginning.
Next on my list will be to remove the "Yes I will yes I will Yes I will now" from the new track Come On To Me.
    Any other suggestions?

"Some People Never Know", which I love, works great with about 1:00 removed.

The new one Come On To Me could be about a minute shorter (it's very repetitive.)

Her Majesty. Edit about 23 seconds off the end.

"Every Night": take out the "believe me, mama" bits.
"Return To Pepperland": take out the dated reference to Nelson Mandela.

Several of the songs on Wild Life ... Love Is Strange, Dear Fried, Some People Never Know and Wild Life itself. But I suppose the rambling nature of these songs is part of the charm of the album/. :)

"And.. when I go away". It just annoys me when songs or poems begin gratuitously with a grammatically indefensible 'And'

PS Why can't I get the Quote function to work?

As a big McCartney fan, i'll say it's less songs that should have been shorter (although there are a few instances) and more songs that he shouldn't have bothered releasing. If you could cut some of the weaker album releases (cough *the 1980s* cough) and filler tracks out of his solo discography, his solo career would be more fondly looked back on in a lot of ways.

Because you are annoyed by the word "and".
And further demand that poems/lyrics, which by definition have artistic license, be grammatically defensible.

Not sure about editing, but could we eliminate Ebony and Ivory?

Just the “and,” leaving us with Ebony Ivory. It makes no sense, but if it makes the song a few seconds shorter I am in.

The "believe me mama" bits are actually my favorite on TWBS...they made me think of Paul doing Elvis.

Well, artistic licence or not, I've had enough of superfluous conjunctions in the world in which we live in.

‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’ - Leave only a handful of bars of the musical intro, removing all lyrics and Paul’s insipid vocal performance from the equation. Like a nod to the White Album, it becomes a snippet, entirely transitional.

Hah. Though I swear Paul has since changed the words, when performing, to "world in which we're living".

Also, you're wrong about "My Love" :)
