It's not like Paul hasn't written about his cat before. What about "She's My Baby" from "At The Speed Of Sound"?

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) has done us all a favour by posting their Macca-interview in full here (longer than the broadcast version that was posted earlier). (Windows Media Player)

Wow, that's even better! Takk (Thanks) :p

  7. You're joking, right? That song is not about his cat--evidence the lyric "she's a woman"--it's about Linda. The lyric that she turns into a kitten during the evening time is a figure of speech.

Well, what does he have to 'mop-up' about Linda for anyway?

    Hi,

My take on the whole Mr Bellamy thing is that the song is about Paul, if you go to his www.myeyesite.com page there is a short video clip called 'Mr Bellamy's desk' .. the video is a camera pan of Paul office desk at the Mill in Sussex, you can see his family photo's on his desk.

I'm sure 'Mr Bellamy' is a metaphore for Paul himself.

Thanks, Eric, I thought I was going nuts! :)
Paul has already said it openly: it's about Linda!

    Mr. Bellamy

At first I thought this was about a cat as well but closer inspection of the lyrics lends to the interpretation that it is about a person.

In particular the line about 'being in a delusionary state'. A cat may be in a tree or on a roof, but he wouldn't likely be in a delusionary state. That sounds more like a person. As also mentioned a hint may also come from the Meyesight.com page with 'Mr. Bellamy's desk'.

Sort of fun to be able to think about it though.

I think it's great that there's so much discussion about interpreting Paul's lyrics since lyrics aren't usually the focus when discussing Paul. :)

If you really wanna hear a song about a cat, check out "Phenomenal Cat" by the Kinks.

    Billy-

You've got to chill out, buddy. I appreciate your passion regarding this cat thing, but you are elevating this into a debate of mammoth proportions and I'm just not sure that anybody cares that much.

Besides, you are definitely running the risk of offending people personally. You have your read of the situation, others have theirs. Leave it be.

  20. Dr. Pepper

    Dr. Pepper What, me worry?

For me and my family the song will remain about a cat because my son loves the song for that reason. Also, the "delusionary state" part to us, sounds like the owner describing the state that his cat was in, and the owner giving the cat a human like emotional state, which many owners do.

I was just thinking. Why does Starbucks have to adhere to the Tuesday release date? Is that regulated somehow?

  22. No comment! Although, Lennon apparently covered the same subject matter in the song Going Down On Love. Their words, not mine!

  23. I don't think you're taking my comments in the spirit they are intended. No offense intended and, I believe, none taken by any forum members. Look at all the healthy debate my comments have sparked! I think an anti-cat consensus is emerging, but if you believe it's about a cat, it's all good, brother!

I'm done with discussing this cat-astrophy, but by all means, if other people want to chip in, fire away!

Because in my experience, pre-orders never arrive on the release date, I'm thinking of visiting a Starbuck's on June 5th and trying to buy the DE version of MAF. Anybody else?

MAF should be available anywhere cd's are sold normally so I don't think you HAVE to go to Starbucks, correct ? I don't normally visit Starbucks . Does anyone know how they price the cd's they sell in comparison to the competition ?
