This is amazing. I've never seen this picture before. Are there any in this period when he met with Brian Wilson? I recall a story where he demoed "She's Leaving Home" among Wilson's collection of vegetables.

Paul must have a personal collection of photos through the years, I wonder if they will ever come out in book form or something like that.

the airplane were recording after bathing at baxters in l.a. from late spring to fall of 1967 so this could have been at wherever they were staying during that time.

    some more conflicting info.

    http://www.sfgate.com/realestate/article/The-Walk-Through-130-Delmar-St-S-F-3246389.php

Description: A persistent urban myth holds that Jefferson Airplane, the psychedelic rock group that epitomized San Francisco's counterculture scene in the late 1960s, lived in this two-story Queen Anne near Buena Vista Park. Actually, it was the home of the head of the band's fan club, a fact noted on the back cover of the blockbuster album "Surrealistic Pillow."

Yeah, Paul is playing a right-handed Rickenbacker 360/12, which probably belonged to Paul Kantner. The headstock, name-plate, the tuners, shape of the horn, the pickups and knob-configuration all match for a Rick.

    from that site-

They also visited the Fillmore Auditorium, where Jefferson Airplane were rehearsing. Afterwards they accompanied Marty Balin and Jack Casady to the Oak Street apartment they shared with the band's road manager Bill Thompson, where McCartney played them an acetate of the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. They also attempted a jam, but McCartney had trouble playing Casady's right-handed bass guitar.
