This photo was recently posted on Paul’s offical site and besides looking awesome, I was wondering what the gear was in the photo. Someone identified the turntable on the left as being a Garrard 401 and the one on the right as a Sony PS-X9. However the PS-X9 has a lip at the front for the strobe light. The speakers, I have no idea. Would love to find more photos that included the amplifiers/pre-amps.
I did find one other photo with some black component gear in the background. The furniture is a really handsome setup with the mid century cabinets.
Another angle from the same photo session (2018?). Not sure if that’s a third speaker or a guitar amp on the bottom right. Also notice the cleaner in the background on the left and the hood for either the controls or a third turntable.
I don't like the way he's holding that LP in the second photo. I'd call and let him know but he blocked me...
In that first photo at Top of thread just to the right of the MOFI Vinyl set is the George Martin Genesis Publishing Limited Edition "Playback" Hardback book & 1 CD (expensive box) George Martin & Various - Playback
Even with the blessing of Sir Paul himself, I'd not take up vinyl again, but what great photos of a great musician!
Not sure if it is because I dosed earlier today or what, but Paul looks photoshopped in everyone of those photos. I'm sure this comment can be disregarded by the morning time
Photoshopped, yes. But I don’t think they’re faked. That’s him in that room. They’ve just touched the photos up, which is pretty standard for this kind of photo shoot.
It maybe. Paul has been pretty guarded about interior photos of Cavendish Avenue. Here are some clues that it may be Cavendish. Circa 1969. Note the speaker in next to the TV is similar to the one in the 2018 photos. Here's another from a 1968 photoshoot. With the speakers mounted in the shelves.
Guessing if it's the same speakers he had in the 60s, maybe some larger Celestions, Tannoys or Wharfedales?
You would think with his bank account balance he would have some much higher end gear. I can only imagine what the inside of that Garrard looks like, he does not look like the DIY fix it type..."hey it still spins and the needle is still ok.."
That same thought occurred to me as well. But he is known for being a bit...um....frugal...and it’s possible he’s had it modified. Alternatively, he might like the vintage sound he’s grown accustomed to...something else he’s known for. So I guess it makes sense(?)
