The thread that mentioned Exile on Main Street caused me to think about some lp's that I pretty much stop what I'm doing and just listen - Exile is one, the Flamin' Groovies Teenage Head, and Nillsson Schmillsson are some of my other other stop, drop and listen choices. I love singles of wild assed, crazed teenagers and VA comps, so an album had better be pretty strong and really get to me to play the whole thing through. What lp's or albums make you folks out in Hoffmanland do the same???

    Took a while....

Had to carefully think this one out. For me....

    Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
Flamin' Groovies - Shake Some Action
Ducks Deluxe - 1st RCA album
Searchers - Live At The Star Club
Jerry Lee Lewis - Live At The Star Club

    Best!

Jerry Lee's Live At The Star Club is great.

    Crowded House's debut

    Traveling Wilburys, Volume 1

The US version of Rubber Soul by the Beatles (for me, this album will always properly start with "I've Just Seen a Face," and its stereo version will have a so-called "false start" before "I'm Looking Through You")

The Bootleg Series Volume 4: The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert -- Bob Dylan (the electric set; the tension on that performance builds until it's all unleashed with the most intense "Like a Rolling Stone" performance I've ever heard)

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac (a whole that is much greater than the sum of its parts)

And, of course, Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys.

Speaking for myself, I find it hard to listen to an album that was never really finished... which is what Smile was (and remains).
