New TV commercial is for Ryan Reynolds' Aviation Gin.

I think "Peloton Wife" dumped both her husband and the Peloton exercise bike....

I heard about this and then looked at the original commercial that started this "controversy". I just wasn't seeing much to get outraged about.

If I had seen the gin commercial without knowing the story first, I would not have gotten it at all. I wouldn't have recognized the actress.

But since I did know, I thought it was pretty funny.

I think if it was a different actress it might have gone unnoticed, but this young lady has this permanent look of stricken fear on her face and I think that was what motivated people to respond. Then again, I don't think it takes much for people who like to respond to these kinds of things to swing into action.

What Peloton should have done was come right out with another commercial where a woman buys a bike for her out of shape husband. That could have been hilarious. Missed opportunity.

...OR..or, the commercial states that we're looking at her a few month (maybe a year) later:
She shoulda turned to the camera and said, "I don't LOOK any DIFFERENT! This thing SUCKS!"

Buying exercise equipment for your wife is a bold move.

Always has been, always will be.

So the assumption that the wife asked for a Peleton is completely out the window?

Yeah, guys are jerks and want their already hot wives to be hotter

Er, okay, maybe that last part is true, but the jumping to conclusions and outrage over this commercial is fairly stupid. I mean, the guy didn’t buy her a mop or a vacuum cleaner fer chrissakes.

I just think it's funny that they hired an actress who already looks like an overachieving supermodel who spends 7 days a week at the gym, and then acts like she's never seen an excercycle before.

Even though I think the histrionic reaction to the Peloton commercial was by people who seem to live to be outraged by something everyday, that gin commercial is pretty funny.

Exercise bikes-on of the most difficult things to clog up landfills.
Exercise bikes and booze-two things not part of my life. But I'll watch if it means passing by an ad featuring Joe Namath, they guy from Jeopardy or the guy from Blue Bloods-all dishonest ads preying on old folks. Oh,yeah, and those asbestos ads, though the one with the scary blonde woman is hilarious. Meanwhile, those Procter & Gamble Power Brands ads with an equally scary blonde woman-stop me!

  25. OUTRAGE I SAY! I am outraged, at the outrage from those seeking outrage for the sake of being outraged.

When I watch the Peloton commercial I see what appears to be affluent people, living in affluent conditions, purchasing affluent accessories for each other.
The indoor Peloton bikes are all $2000 or more, not cheap. They take up a fairly large amount of space so you need some extra room to have one in a useful place.
The wife is good looking, the husband is good looking, everyone is in good shape and pretty happy with the situation.

I guess when you are searching for offensive you will "find" offensive if you want to be offended.

The Gin commercial...well, we will see where the terminally offended take this because this DOES have plenty of wiggle room for you to intrepret things.
I like when the writers do not hand you all aspects on a silver platter, complete with instructions and a decoder chart. Let me think it through for myself.
I am not searching to be offended either, so my perspective is from a different angle I suppose.
