No, just that the story is absurd. If one doesn't by into it, they won't like the film. I love the film. My main complaint would be the over the top visuals at the end. Tarantino never subscribes to less is more and it would benefit his films at times. I get what he is going for, but it's a bit much. Again though, I love it overall.

No, I believe I have the Image Entertainment dvd. As I recall it’s pretty bare bones.

I have a few issues with the rest of the film, but overall it’s great and I considered it my favorite movie for a while.
I have a pet peeve about films that feature a comic or entertainer in a stage setting. Often times, as in Limelight, the audience laughs uproariously at the comic’s act, tears rolling down the cheeks, which to me feels presumptuous on the part of the filmmaker. If I’m not laughing as hard as the audience, or if I’m not at least feeling the urge, then the scene rings false to me.

(Actually, in the case of Limelight, there might be a different rule in play. If I remember the plot correctly, I think the audience was filled with plants determined to give Calvero a last hurrah.)

I passed on it this round cause Wifey wanted Before Trilogy...but you got it burned on my brain. The screenshots on DVD beaver look amazing and I am a "complete" obsessive so this looks like an easy one. Just a little confusing for a newbie...but hey with your advice for first round and the rest of the versions... I will just watch all the content anyway. This one has burned on my brain for a long time.

I really like The Thin Red Line by Terrence Malick. Nick Nolte is an actor that I don't normally watch for some reason, I just don't go for his movies, but I thought he was great as Col. Tall. He was easily the best actor in that ensemble cast. He chews the scenery up as the old man, the aging Lt. Colonel desperate to prove himself in the only war he will ever have. His scenes with Elias Koteas were brilliant. Youtube doesnt have too many of them, or they aren't good quality, but this little clip will do for now...

This scene from "Unforgiven" is equal parts funny and terrifying.

The Apartment - Christmas Eve party at the office, Jack Lemmon wants to check how his "executive bowler" looks and Shirley MacLaine hands him her broken mirror. Brilliant storytelling and a devastating scene.

William Friedkin had quite a knack for haunting final scenes. The French Connection, Cruising, and To Live and Die in L.A. all finished on a perfect note.

Great pick. Rutger Hauer actually re-wrote that scene, plus the lines "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."

The chase scene in "What's Up Doc?" (from the time they steal the bicycle until all the cars crash into the San Francisco Bay). The physical slapstick in this is perfectly written, shot and edited. The only flaw is the big glass pane shatters a split second before the guy on the ladder crashes through it.

Similarly, the Ministry of Information scene from "Brazil" uses brilliant choreography to turn chaos into something almost like a dance.
