The tension in this scene is almost unbearable. With the guns, the constant random fireworks, the coked-out behavior from everyone, the music (especially the perfectly-timed cassette flip)...

I hate Mark Wahlberg with a passion, but he provides one of my favorite bits of acting ever - where he starts to lose his s*** (about 1:00 into the second clip). He just kinda stares into space, and you can absolutely feel him trying to make sense of how his life has lead to this moment. It's like watching another human being have an out-of-body experience.

Apologies that it is only a partial scene

Lots of great posts in this thread. My favorite is the "5 minute" scene in Richard Attenborough's "Magic." Anthony Hopkins is a marvel as a ventriloquist struggling with his sanity. Burgess Meredith is his agent trying to help him keep things together - though he really knows it's not possible. And Fats is, well...

Linked is a much longer scene but if you go to the 4:22 mark you get to see it all play out. When that camera begins to swivel at the 8 minute mark, well, you know you're seeing something special. It's always hard to take a scene out of context but this one holds up pretty well.

Apparently a scene added when it was discovered that the two stars of the film never appeared in a scene together...

I think Mark Wahlberg makes really good movies. Each to his own I can respect that.

Interesting tidbit. The look came from P.T. wanting the song setup at a particular point, instead of just sitting there the acting took over and it was left in.

One of my favorite movies of all time.

    Xxxx

A scene that stands out to me. Kills me everytime.
